Single, double and accumulator bets explained
- Single
- One selection, one bet. Your stake multiplied by the odds if it wins.
- Double
- Two selections combined into one bet. Both have to win — there is no partial payout for getting one right.
- Accumulator
- Three or more selections combined into one bet, with the odds multiplied together. Higher risk and higher potential return. Our betting guides walk through how accumulators settle in more detail.
How the calculator settles a bet
The same rules a bookmaker applies:
- Any selection loses — the whole bet loses. Your return is zero and your loss is your stake.
- A selection is void — it drops out of the bet and its odds are ignored. A four-fold with one void settles as a treble.
- Every selection is void — your stake is returned and you neither win nor lose.
- Everything wins — your stake is multiplied by every remaining selection's odds.
Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between a double and an accumulator?
A double combines exactly two selections into one bet. An accumulator combines three or more. Both only pay out if every selection wins — there is no partial return if one leg loses.
How does a void selection affect my accumulator?
A void selection (a non-runner, a postponed match and so on) is removed from the bet and its odds do not count. Your accumulator settles as if that selection was never part of it — a four-fold with one void becomes, in effect, a treble.
Can I use this calculator for each-way bets?
Not yet. This version handles win-only single, double and accumulator bets. Each-way, Lucky 15s and full-cover bets are planned. In the meantime our betting guides cover how each-way settlement works.
What is the difference between decimal and fractional odds?
They express the same price two ways. Decimal odds include your stake, so 3.50 means a 10 stake returns 35 in total. Fractional odds show profit only, so 5/2 means you win 25 on a 10 stake and get your 10 back — the same 35. The calculator converts between the two as you switch format.
Is the bet calculator free to use?
Yes. It is a free reference tool and needs no account or sign-up.
