The Research

Dortmund will hope to maintain their impressive league form as they host Mainz on Friday night. They are unbeaten in 14 Bundesliga matches, having won five in a row at Signal Iduna Park. They face a Mainz side that sits 14th in the league table but comes into this fixture in strong form, having won four of their last five league matches. They have scored ten goals during this period, and this sets up quite a fascinating matchup between two in-form sides. The history of this fixture has often seen goals from both sides, as was the case in the last five meetings. That said, Dortmund have taken the majority share of the spoils, and we are siding with a narrow victory for the home side on this occasion

An all-Championship affair in the FA Cup fourth round as Wrexham hosts Ipswich Town on Friday night. The home side suffered defeat to Millwall in their last outing, the first time they have failed to score at home all season. Meanwhile, the visitors continue to pile pressure on the top two, having defeated Derby away from home over the weekend. Ipswich have won six of their last eight outings, averaging just shy of two goals per match. The two sides played out a goalless draw in the Championship in November, though Ipswich was unfortunate not to win the game. We think that their attacking quality will be too much for Wrexham to handle this time around, and we are siding with the visitors to progress in this tie.

Elche and Osasuna go head-to-head on Friday night to kick off weekend action in La Liga. The visitors have a favourable record in this fixture, unbeaten in the last ten occasions. That said, seven of these matches have been draws, the most common scoreline between these two being one apiece. Elche have claimed all five of their league wins on home soil, though they have suffered defeat in five of their last six in La Liga. While Osasuna has the stronger form, it seems inevitable that this fixture will be tight once again, and a BTTS selection seems sensible as far as we are concerned.

One thing for certain is that Massimiliano Allegri is doing a fine job at AC Milan. Unbeaten in their last 22 matches in Serie A, a club record, while having the best defensive record in the division. They travel to newly promoted Pisa, who have drawn 12 of their 24 league matches this season. Funnily enough, the reverse fixture ended in a draw, though Milan is in quite unstoppable form coming into this game. Pisa has managed just one league win this season, while Milan has won seven of their 12 away matches. We can only see this fixture going one way, though we will be slapping ourselves if this one ends in yet another draw.
