Shower of Goals at The Shay

A tasty mid-table clash between Halifax and Aldershot plays out this weekend in a game destined for goals.

The Shaymen have had a rocky start to the season under their new boss Adam Lakeland, but still find themselves just about in the top half of the National League - A heavy 3-0 defeat to Braintree Town in their opening fixture and an early red card in the proceeding match away to Wealdstone allowed for a dismal start to this year's campaign.

However, with only one loss in their last seven league games, Lakeland reached light at the end of the tunnel. With over 2.5 goals scored in each of their last four league outings, and this weekend's opponents taken into account, this looks like the smartest pick.

Aldershot, who currently lie in 15th place in the National League, have had a wild start to the season which somehow put them in the bottom half of the table despite scoring the most of any Non-League top-flight side, with a whopping 24 goals in 11 games, four more than table-toppers Forest Green Rovers. There has only been one Aldershot game this season with under 2.5 goals, which came in a 1-0 home victory over Hartlepool, and the other 10 have all seen goals aplenty, which makes this fixture primed for goalmouth action.

Business as Usual Expected for Fylde

AFC Fylde play host to North East outfit Darlington in the FA Cup Third Round Qualifying Round, in another bout certain to bring goals, this weekend.

The Coasters have been flying in recent weeks in The Enterprise National League North, following their relegation from the National League last season and find themselves 4th after eight matches played with a game in hand on fellow high-flyers. In what was described by Fylde boss Craig Mahon as their 'best performance of the season' last weekend, a 4-0 drubbing of Leamington was cut short in the 60th minute following a downpour rendering the match currently void.

Darlington welcomed Fylde in the third match-day of the league season in which the Coasters emerged with all three points and traveled back across the country triumphantly. The two sides meet again and Darlington will be desperate to give their travelling support something to cheer about in their attempt to reach that allusive FA Cup First Round, but will Fylde's relentless and in-form firepower be too much for Darlo?

It seems likely. With eight out of their nine league games producing a minimum of three goals, this over 2.5 goals pick seems like a no-brainer.

Solihull Set to Shock

League placement aside, there has been some very bright sparks shown from this Solihull side that could suggest a three-point haul for the West Midlands outfit this weekend.

Brackley Town visit to The ARMCO Arena on Saturday with hopes of expanding their unbeaten streak to five games, but with a fire lit under the bellies of the home side following a heavy loss to promotion hopefuls Rochdale midweek, that may not be the case. Marginal losses throughout the start of the season and draws against very capable sides have The Moors further down the table than what their quality suggests - with Jacob Wakeling firing goals in freely, including a dramatic late goal against Stuart Maynard's York City last weekend, Solihull will smell an upset.

With that being said, The Saints still possess great talent and can absolutely hurt this Solihull side having only lost twice this season against Yeovil and Carlisle, but with Moors aiming to please their home backing, they may fall short. It is important to cover a few bases with this game which is why Double Chance seems the best bet to account for Brackley fight.

Unbeaten Urchins Take On Dover

With an outstanding 22 goals in nine National League South outings for Hornchurch, they face an impressive newly-promoted Dover side in East London.

The Urchins, without a loss so far this season, must have their fans dreaming of the National League and, after a few years of struggle to get to the position they are in now, they will be hungry to continue this flawless form and push on until May. Their victories have not been void of goals either, as proved by their five-goal haul away to Slough Town last weekend, showing that they're not interested in slowing down anytime soon.

Hornchurch will want to make The Whites their metaphoric deer in the headlights this time around, but with Dover wanting to stay as far away from the drop as possible and maybe hang on to the emerging pack at the head of the table, they will willingly fight back. Seven out of Dover's first nine National League south fixtures have resulted in over 2.5 goals and with Hornchurch rampant as well, goals are a guarantee.
