Free Multi Bet Tips - Wolves vs Aston Villa Preview and Bet Builder Tips and Predictions

Premier League Friday night football returns this week, although many would have asked for a slightly more competitive, closely fought fixture than bottom-of-the-table Wolves hosting Champions League-chasing Aston Villa.

Despite some improved form since the turn of the year, Wolves are still rooted to 20th in the Premier League, nine points back from the 19th-placed Burnley, and with any hope of being able to rescue Premier League survival long gone, likely burnt with their 19-game winless start to the campaign.

Aston Villa at least still have aspirations for the season, with Champions League football well within their reach. However, one win in their last four has seen the chasing pack slowly make up some ground, with Man United, Chelsea and Liverpool all picking up more points than the Villains in that time.

Though they play away from home against their local rivals, this fixture presents the perfect chance for Unai Emery and his men to regain some momentum – still three points clear of fourth place, they have plenty of time to grow the gap to their rivals in the 11 games that remain this season.

With so much on the line here, it is only right that you also put something at stake too. That is why Football Park has crafted two distinct bet builders, catering for those looking for both big wins and small profits, and bringing you closer to the game.

Why We Are Backing This Bet

Low Risk

Points for Villa: Whether it be a win or a draw, we don’t see a world in which Aston Villa fail to come away with something from this game. Unai Emery is a master tactician and will have prepared for all possible attacks Wolves can launch.

However, the Spanish coach will be hungry to grab his team a win here – Villa have not managed to steal all three points away from Molineux since December of 2020, and looking at their current positions, there has been no better opportunity to get the win in years.

Clean Sheet: Moreover, Villa are helped by their rivals' dodgy form in front of goal. With just 18 league goals in 28 games, Wolves’ goal tally is seven fewer than the next closest side, Nottingham Forest. They have been truly woeful in front of goal, not helped by the departure of last season's top scorer, Jorgen Strand Larsen.

Meanwhile, Villa boast the third-best defensive record the league has to offer, conceding just 28 goals in their 27 games so far. If they keep a clean sheet at Molineux, they will take their goals conceded ratio to one per game, an impressive number in anyone’s book. We can’t see them giving away a cheap goal here.

Over 1.5 Goals: This may seem like a relatively high-risk leg – Villa have failed to score more than one goal in any of their last five games, and if the previous leg is to win, this is a threshold they need to surpass. Fortunately, the only reason they haven’t surpassed it is because they haven’t met Wolves.

The side in orange have conceded two or more goals in four of their last six Premier League fixtures, including all of their games with sides ranked fifth and above. Seeing as Aston Villa currently sit third, the signs are looking promising.

High Risk

Villa Victorious: Though a slightly riskier bet than Aston Villa double chance, there is still a very slim chance that Wolves will come away with anything here – pitting the two sides' form together over the last month or so, there is no competition; Villa are dominant.

The only reason the odds aren’t particularly favourable is thanks to a small uptick in home performances by Wolves, with their remarkable comeback to draw 2-2 against league leaders Arsenal, a much-needed change to the status quo. However, lightning is unlikely to strike twice, and Villa will travel back to Birmingham with another valuable three points.

Over 3.5 Goals: In a local derby, everyone wants to send a message, and the best way to do that is through goals. The more goals go in, the more embarrassing it becomes for your rivals – precisely what you’ll be chasing as a side with a message to deliver to the rest of the league.

Now with the dual threat of Tammy Abraham off the bench if the pace and movement of Ollie Watkins isn’t working out, Villa have variety in their attack, something which should catch Wolves out plenty of times here. As for the home side, they will likely make a breakthrough, but only after Villa have had their fill.

Trending Tammy: Speaking of Tammy Abraham, the former Chelsea and England international has made an impressive start to his second stint at Villa, finding the net in their last two games, which has coincided nicely with a Watkins dry spell.

Though Watkins is likely to start here, Abraham has already garnered a reputation for making an impact off the bench, and with his tall frame, clever finishing and experienced positioning, he will immediately provide a different dimension of threat to the Wolves' backline. Expect him to find the net regardless of whether he scores or not.

Both Teams to Score: Similar to the over 3.5 goals leg, this is naturally a high-risk selection given the gap in quality and space in the table between the two sides. Wolves rarely score more than one, while Villa conceding more than one is rare.

However, fuelled by a Molineux crowd who saw their side shock the league leaders last time they took to home turf, there will certainly be a belief in the side. However misplaced this belief is, it will undoubtedly spark their side into action and increase their chances of scoring themselves, rather than watch Villa run riot at the other end.
