Al Ahly takes on Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami in the opening match of the revamped FIFA Club World Cup. Both sides kick off their campaigns in Group A at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium.
The Egyptian Champions carry lots of momentum coming into the tournament. The 12-time CAF Champions League winners head into this group as the surprise package. Not many believe they can qualify out their group with Porto, Inter Miami and Palmeiras, but they do not half pack a ferocious punch in their squad. Making their mark against Messi and co. would be the perfect start for them.
They face Inter Miami’s star-studded team made up of some of Europe’s greatest players of their generation. Many people believe they did not deserve their place in the competition, so also have plenty to prove, but also that they have not lost their world class qualities.
As the game approaches, here is everything you need to know about both sides ahead of kick-off.
This clash between Al Ahly and Inter Miami will take place at the Hard Rock Stadium, Miami, on Sunday, June 15, at 01:00 BST. This match will be available to watch for free on DAZN.

Al Ahly Predicted Lineup (4-3-3): El-Shenawy; Koka, Aash, Ibrahim, Hany; El-Solia, Ashour, Attia; Bencharki, Ali, Mohamed.
Al Ahly faces some injury concerns heading into the competition, with Ahmed Abdelkader and Reda Slim both unavailable while both Mohamed Abdullah and Karim Fouad have both just returned to the squad, so are both doubts for the match, but could return to the squad midway through the group.
The Egyptian champions scored 18 goals in their last five league matches, conceding just three. They made their championship round section look easy, beating Haras El hedoud and Pharco 5-0 and 6-0 respectively. In between these games, they made light work of Al-Masry, winning 4-2, beating Ceramica 1-0 and defeating National Bank 2-1 on their way to the title. Before this competition, they did play a friendly against Liga MX and Club World Cup contender in Pachuca, drawing 1-1 and losing the resultant shootout.
Wessam Abou Ali has been pivotal in their six-game winning run, scoring eight goals and providing two assists in that time, whilst adding to his tally while on international duty with Palestine- he will be vital to give the Egyptians hope to beat Messi’s side.
Inter Miami Predicted Lineup (4-4-2): Ustari; Fray, Falcon, Allen, Alba; Allende, Redondo, Busquets, Segovia; Messi, Suarez.
Baltasar Rodriguez may not be fit in time for Miami’s opener, leaving Javier Mascherano without one of his key players. David Ruiz and Yannick Bright will also be unavailable for the fixture, with number one goalkeeper Drake Callender and defender Gonzalo Lujan both ruled out for the tie.
Since their Champions League exit to Vancouver, Miami have struggled for consistency in the league winning just two of their last five games- but those did come most recently against both Montreal and Columbus Crew. Before this, they drew 3-3 with Philadelphia before losing to Orlando.
The ex-Barcelona quartet of Alba, Busquets, Messi and Suarez will be the key for Mascherano’s outfit, and this tournament could be the motivation these stars need to make a deep run in this competition. If they find their rhythm together, it will be very difficult for Al Ahly.
Of course, with these sides not even being in the same continent, it comes as no surprise that the two clubs have never took to the same field, which in a way is what makes this competition even more exciting.
We believe that with the match being held in Miami’s ground, and the vast experience they boast all over the pitch, the quality on offer too, makes it difficult to see Al Ahly coming away with a positive result in the tournament opener.
Therefore, our team of betting professionals have gone for Inter Miami to Win as the best value tip for this match. Odds on Kwiff of 2.1 will mean a stake of £10 has a potential return of £21.
