Betting on the Czech First Division—branded Fortuna Liga—has many thrilling features including high-stakes local derbies (Prague giants Slavia vs. Sparta), changing weather influences in winter months, and unpredictable underdog performances combine for a volatile betting landscape. The league’s compact size and a “split phase” format, where teams play a regular season followed by a championship or relegation group, offers great late-season betting.
The Czech First League 2025/26 features 16 teams competing in a double round‑robin regular season—each side plays all others twice across 30 match rounds. After that, the league splits into a Championship Group, Relegation Group, and a Placement Playoff Group, with clubs playing additional matches within those sections. The top clubs qualify for European competitions while relegation-threatened teams fight to stay up. Promotion and relegation play-offs may follow between divisions in early June 2026.
The 2025/26 Czech First Division season is structured in two main phases. The regular season, where each of the 16 teams plays the others twice (home and away), runs from mid-July or early August 2025 through to 19 December 2025, followed by a traditional winter break that lasts until late January. After the regular 30 rounds are completed, the league splits into three groups: the Championship Group (top 6 teams), the Relegation Group (bottom 6), and the Placement Group (middle 4), with each group playing a mini-league of 5 additional rounds between 25 April and 24 May 2026. After these final standings are determined, promotion/relegation playoffs take place between 28 and 31 May 2026.
The final top-flight fixture of the 2025/26 Czech First Division will likely take place on 24 May 2026, concluding the post‑split phase. If promotion/relegation playoffs are required, they will be played between 28 and 31 May 2026.
In the Czech Republic, Fortuna TV, O2 TV Sport, or ČT Sport typically broadcast Czech First Division matches live. Highlights and extended coverage are often available on club streaming platforms or via international broadcasters and betting sites offering live feeds.
AC Sparta Prague stands as the most successful Czech top-flight club in the league’s modern era (since the 1993–94 split). They have claimed the league title 14 times. SK Slavia Prague is a close second with eight Czech-era titles, most recently winning in 2024–25. FC Viktoria Plzeň sit third with six titles in the same timeframe.
