Friday night football in the Danish Superligaen features AGF vs Randers FC this week, as we approach the second week of the season.
Match-week one provided us with a lot of action last weekend, as both of these sides came away from their first game with a humble draw. Now, second match in, both teams will be looking to build on their point and create an early advantage for themselves in the league table.
Key Betting Tip: AGF to Win offers good value @ 2.00.
AGF Predicted XI: Wahlstedt, Kahl, Tingager, Jensen-Abbew, Links, Madsen, Poulsen, Beijimo, Emmery, Mortensen, Bech
Randers Predicted XI: Storch, Dyhr, Dammers, Høegh, Hansen, Björkengren, Rømer, Themsen, Mahmoud, Greve, Toure
Randers handed out two debuts in their first match of the season, to new signings Jannich Storch and Lucas Lissens.
After both teams’ 1-1 away ties on opening day, they sit in sixth and seventh spot on one point. But how did each team perform in the league last season?
AGF were having a great campaign last term, until they fell at the final hurdle. The Danish outfit finished third in the regular league season, but then as they were sectioned into the Championship Playoff Group, their performances dropped dramatically. They ended the season in sixth place out of the six teams in the group, denying them the chance of European football.
Randers FC stayed consistent throughout the entire campaign last season. They were in fourth spot prior to moving into the Championship Group and then ended up securing fourth place in the group as well, with 48 points. This meant that they had to contest Silkeborg in a one-off match for the chance to win UEFA Conference League football. However, unfortunately Randers were defeated 3-1 on the night.
Similarly to their opening matches in the division, these two sides love to draw against each other. Although saying that, Randers FC have managed to edge two wins past AGF in the last two times they met.
Recent Head-to-Head Results:
Out of the 42 meetings between these sides, 16 of them have been draws, AGF have seven wins and Randers have 19.
Despite Randers FC finishing the season in a better position than AGF last term and having the better record on paper, AGF have a vital home advantage heading into this fixture and motivation to improve of their disappointing end to last season.
With this in mind, a 2-1 AGF win looks to be a reasonable prediction for this matchup.
Football Park’s Best Bet: AGF to Win @ 2.00 (Highbet).
(Odds are subject to change)
Tobias Bech (AGF) - Whilst last season’s Superligaen top scorer Patrick Mortensen is the obvious choice, Bech could be on for a monumental season in the Superligaen this term. The 23-year-old scored eight goals and grabbed two assists last season and has already commenced this one with a goal on opening day.
Mathias Greve (Randers FC) - Randers unfortunately lost their star-man Simen Bolkan Nordii this summer, as the man who tallied up 26 goal contributions left for Norwegian side Rosenberg. However, Randers still have midfielder Mathias Greve, who amassed six goals and five assists last term.
