Heart Of Midlothian
The second matchday in Group E of the Scottish League Cup sees a clash between Hamilton Academical and Heart of Midlothian.
Hearts definitely head into Tuesday’s fixture as favourites due to playing two tiers higher than Hamilton and having won their first game in a convincing 4-1 fashion. Hamilton will have their work cut out for them and will be looking to build upon their 2-0 win over Stirling in their opener.
Key Betting Tip: Hearts to win at 1.34 odds represents excellent value based on the tip provided by our team of in-house tipsters.
Hamilton Predicted XI: Smith; MacDonald, Hendry, Kilday, Gallacher; Williamson, Maguire; Bradley, Robinson, Eadie; Shaw.
Hearts Predicted XI: Clark; Milne, Halkett, Kent, Taylor; Forrest, Denholm, Baningime, Braga; Wilson, Shankland.
Both sides are expected to have full-strength squads to choose from, with both managers looking to make a few tweaks to keep everyone match fit.
Hamilton have not played any preseason friendlies since their abysmal Scottish Championship season, which saw them get relegated twice in four seasons down to the third tier. Financial troubles was the main reason for their relegation, and failure to pay six players as well as not acting in ‘good faith’. They ended the season with 21 points following their 15-points deduction.
Hearts, meanwhile, had a poor season themselves to their standards. Since getting promoted back into the Premiership, they spent three seasons in the top four before their seventh place finish last season. They are in Group E of the League Cup, alongside Dunfermline, Dumbarton, and Stirling.
Tuesday’s meeting will be the 27th between the pair, with Hearts certainly taking the psychological advantage into the next meeting. Hamilton have managed defeat Hearts just six times in comparison to Hearts’ 15 victories, with the other five ending in draws.
Recent Head-to-Head Results:
Although Hamilton have had the better of the last five fixtures, the 2019/20 campaign was when Hearts were relegated, but now they are in a much better position than the Accies. Tuesday will be a very difficult match for the hosts, but they certainly have the capacity to get a result.
Hearts head into the game as favourites all over. Coach Derek McInnes will undoubtedly make changes, so they could field a weaker outfit but regardless a victory is expected.
Hamilton Last 5 Matches:
Granted their squad looks slightly different than what they had at the end of last season, but the confidence in the squad is there, evidently by two wins in the last five. A clean sheet in their opener will give the defence a boost as well.
Hearts Last 5 Matches:
Hearts had an emphatic return to form following a underwhelming regular season, they won four of their five relegation round matches, finishing seventh. They followed this with a good 3-1 win over League Two’s Crawley Town before dismantling Dunfermline in their cup opener.

Football Park’s Best Bet: Hearts to Win @ 1.34 - Our team of in-house betting tipsters have predicted a Hearts win in this fixture. Hearts look completely like the better team at the moment, Hamilton, although they perhaps possess the level of a second-tier side, will be no match for the Edinburgh outfit.
Steven Bradley (Hamilton): The midfielder looked in fine form against Stirling, providing the assisting touch in both goals in Hamilton’s 2-0 victory. The 23-year-old could start again if John Rankin decides to, and judging off that first game, it is an easy decision.
James Wilson (Hearts): On his first competitive start for Heart of Midlothian, he managed to register a goal just four minutes into the game, later adding an assist to help his side in a comprehensive win. At just 21 years old, Wilson is about to enter his second full season in senior football and is already looking like he will be a star for the future.
