Before their big face-off in the Coppa Italia Final on the 14th, Bologna travel to the San Siro this Friday for the first of two games between these clubs in the space of five days. Bologna, ahead of AC Milan in the league table, are in a European spot, however, just one loss could see them slip from 6th to 8th. AC Milan, on the other hand, require an almost perfect finish to the season to stand a chance of UEFA qualification.
UK viewers will be able to stream this match on the OneFootball app via their Serie A Pass. The match kicks off at 19:45 on Friday 9th May.
The Rossoneri have had a season of ups and downs, reaching the Coppa Italia final has been a positive, yet an early exit at the hands of Feyenoord in the Champions League was a disappointment. The club have spent most of the Serie A season languishing outside of European spots in 7th, 8th or 9th. This looks like where they could finish unless things change swiftly…
AC Milan have won two, drawn one and lost one in their last four games, the loss a close defeat to Atalanta. They dismissed Udinese 4-0, something that Bologna failed to do last matchday, and also notably defeated Inter Milan 3-0 in the Coppa Italia Semi-Final second leg.
Predicted Line Up (3-4-3): Mike Maignan, Fikayo Tomori, Matteo Gabbia, Strahinja Pavlovic, Alex Jimenez, Theo Hernandez, Tijjani Reijnders, Youssouf Fofana, Christian Pulisic, Rafael Leao, Luca Jovic
Jovic scored a brace in his last start for AC Milan, but was benched for Tammy Abraham last game. If given the start against Bologna, he will be a likely goalscorer with the Serbian finally having some confidence instilled in him.
Vincenzo Italiano has taken over Thiago Motta’s work from last season and managed to maintain Bologna’s success, pushing for European spots despite losing key players last summer. The Northern Italian side have won one, drawn two and lost one of their last four, worse form than their opponents, scoring twice compared to AC Milan’s eight goals in the same time period.
Predicted Line Up (4-2-3-1): Lukasz Skorupski, Davide Calabria, Sam Beukema, Jhon Lucumi, Juan Miranda, Remo Freuler, Michel Aebischer, Jens Odgaard, Benjamin Domminguez, Riccardo Orsolini, Thijs Dallinga
Orsolini has been Bologna’s star man this season, the winger has made over 200 appearances for the Rossoblu across the last six years, however, this is his best goalscoring season yet with 14 goals.
Across their last 35 meetings, AC Milan have won 23 times, Bologna have won four times, and there have been eight draws. Bologna ended a nine-year wait for a win against AC Milan earlier this season. Their last five meetings are as follows:
Both teams will take risks with points at this stage crucial, and AC Milan often don’t struggle to find the back of the net. For this reason, our betting experts say Both Teams to Score is the best value tip for this game. With odds at 4/5, a bet of £10 could see a potential return of up to £18.
