KEY INFORMATION

This British betting company has been in operation since 1999
Though most memorable for it's stint as a trading and financial site, they offer a highly competitive sportsbook that rivals the best in the market

Introduction

For the financially savvy investors amongst us, treating the world of money-making with a serious eye rather than our light-hearted looks at football every day, Spreadex may very well be a familiar platform already. What many don't know already, however, is that Spreadex offer a comprehensive sports betting service as well - a very unique one as well, we may add.

So are you better off sticking to your traditional dossier of bookmakers and bet builders? Or does the ambitious muscle of Spreadex represent the new market that you need to be making use of? In the latest rendition of our incisive sportsbook reviews, we're taking a look at the new kid on the block and breaking down their strengths and hinderances to decipher why they offer value to your array of markets.

Welcome Offer Promoted by Spreadex

Of course, the best part of joining a new bookie is a solid signup offer. Well, Spreadex have got one of the most competitive ones available anywhere in the UK online gaming industry. At time of writing, UK-based bettors can grab a welcome offer of £60 in bet bonuses upon their arrival with Spreadex. To claim the offer, simply whack a qualifying bet worth £10 onto any fixed-odds market at odds of 1.50 or 1/2 or higher. The qualifying bet in itself is a plus - the majority of bookies require evens or above!

  • Players are granted this £60 of value spread over instalments after their qualifying bet has been played out. Punters will receive £10 immediately upon the settlement of their initial qualifying stake, with the remaining five £10 instalments arriving over the course of the next four days. So, for instance, if you play your first bet on Monday you will get £10 as soon as your bet has finished, and then the rest will land each day from Tuesday to Friday.

  • As well as these free bets for fixed odds markets, you will also get two Total Goals spread bets, two Winning Favourites spread bets and a Race Index spread bet as well. Lucky you! (to claim these free gifts, you'll need to have a full spread betting account open with Spreadex first).

  • You'll need to claim this offer within 28 days of the opening of your account. No bonus codes needed, and a more generous amount of time to claim the offer than seen in other bookies.

One offer not enough for you? Worry not! In addition to the initial offer, users can also claim six complimentary £5 bets to be used solely on spread betting markets when staking a fixed odds bet of at least £10 with odds matching or exceeding 1.50. Once that initial bet is settled, the welcome offer will activate and you'll get the spread bets into your account.

As well as the above, users who stake a minimum of £300 on a qualifying sports spread betting market in the first 28 days of their account being opened will get a lovely reward - the £300 back in cash or an iPad! If you stake less than that, then the cashback you recieve will match it. So a £50 stake will result in £50 coming back to you.

Full terms and conditions apply, of course. Make sure you read them carefully on the site to make full use of this exceptional signup offer.

Registration Process - How to Get Started on Spreadex

Punters hoping for an easy way to get into their shiny new betting account will be in luck with Spreadex - registration took us mere minutes in our testing samples, with only two steps required!

To kick things off, simply click onto the 'JOIN' icon in the rop right side of your display. Pressing this will take you through the first stage of signing up (obviously).

On this next screen, you'll input your first bits of info, which will include:

  • Name

  • Email

  • Country of Residence

  • Nationality

  • Username

  • Password

For the lattermost step, both we and Spreadex themselves recommend including numbers and symbols in to bolster your account security. When this has all been checked off, hit the box that will confirm you as being over 18 years of age and then press 'CONTINUE'.

At this point, you'll be on the last of two steps to get your account open. On here, you'll provide your Date of Birth, Phone Number and Home Address. There will also be a mix of security questions for you to choose from and provide an answer for - this will allow you to get back into your account should you lose access down the line.

Using the details handed over already, Spreadex will automatically verify your account and details and get you started. The next screen will be a big, celebratory 'Application Accepted' screen, from which you can choose to immediately deposit some funds or to activate your spread betting account. If you go for the latter option, the bookie will ask you a couple more questions regarding your finances before you can get started there.

We were left very happy with the signup stages present on Spreadex. It was a swift, painless process to get started but without sacrificing the need for security. Good stuff.

What is Spread Betting?

We've read your minds. What on earth are these 'spread bets' that you've spoken about so much already? Worry not, my friend.

A 'spread' essentially works like a prediction for a specific, singular market in a particular sports event. Like a stocks and trading website, it is shown in a SELL-BUY type of range. For instance, the market of choice could be Total Match Cards for a football match. The spread could be set at 1.5 Cards to 2.0 Cards. If you think that the game of choice will see more cards shown than the set spread displays (so Over 2 Match Cards, essentially) then you would hit BUY. If you think there will be less than 1.5 cards in the game, then you would SELL.

The big difference between spread betting and fixed odds betting, in basic terms, is that the more you are right, the more you will stand to win.

Payment Methods Available With Spreadex

In addition to your standard debit card deposit, both bank transfers and cheque payments are applicable and accepted by this bookie with no extra fees attached.

However, this is where the options end with Spreadex. No third-party payments allowed over here, which means a goodbye to things like Skrill, NETELLER and PayPal and any prepaid vouchers cards like a paysafecard. Oh, and no Crypto.

The end result of this does mean that transactions could be a little less speedy than you may be used to. When withdrawing through a debit card, the funds took two days to arrive back into our account although bank transfers were a little quicker.

So yeah, it's a bit of a downer that a few methods deemed very popular with many punters have no place on Spreadex, but it isn't all doom and gloom. They accept the most common forms of payment methods, so it's unlikely you'll find any real issues in getting your account topped up.

Payment methods available with Spreadex include:

  • VISA

  • Mastercard

  • Maestro

  • Apple/Google Pay

  • Direct Bank Transfers

Deposits and Withdrawals with Spreadex

Deposits

To add some funds into your Spreadex account, start with the 'MY ACCOUNT' tab at the top of the screen.

You'll be sent onto a new tab, where a drop-down list will protrude down from the left flank. To start depositing, select 'Deposti Funds' and choose whether you want to fund your Spread Betting account or your wallet used for fixed odds betting. We were funding the latter, in this test.

From there it's standard practice. We were using a debit card here, so it was a case of adding in things like our number, expiry date, date of birth and the three magic numbers on the back before choosing our deposit amount. Once this was done, we hit 'SUBMIT' and our account was topped up and ready to go.

Withdrawals

For withdrawals, you're off to the same spot - open the 'MY ACCOUNT' tab we mentioned before.

You'll be then greeted with the same drop-down as before, but you'll be hitting 'Withdraw Funds' this time around. Withdrawals can be made to any card or bank that has been used to make a deposit, with a maximum withdrawal in one go of £25,000 on cards or £2,500 for Mastercard and Maestro withdrawal.

We were taking £27 out of our account in this test. We confirmed our payment method of choice and the amount we were taking out. The card you last used to fund your account is the default option automatically anyway, so we hit 'NEXT' to move on.

Finally, a push of the 'CONFIRM' button took us to a screen confirming the end of the ordeal, and our money arrived back with us two days later.

Promotions and Offers Available on Spreadex

Quite frankly, the level of promotions and offers available when playing with Spreadex has to be seen to be believed. There is an almost overwhelming amount of tools and tricks to give you more value than the majority of bookies available anywhere else in the UK market.

The jewel in the crown in this sea of offers is the 'Refer and Earn' programme deployed by the bookie, which allows you to earn extra dough simply by spreading the word around about Spreadex and getting some sign-ups through you personally.

When a friend or acquaintance signs up and joins Spreadex, get them to mention your name and postcose in the process of their Welcome Call from the accounts team members with them. After that, they'll need to place five sports spread bets with a minimum stake of £2 and once they have settled you'll be given £100 to use on the Total Match Goals spread betting market. Decent, no?

This is only one example of several brilliant promotions you can expect as standard issue from Spreadex. They also offer things like early payouts for teams going two goals ahead in a game, 100% Bet Builder boosts as well as comprehensive promos for horse racing and tennis. There is no VIP Club - nobody is perfect - but there is far more than enough in regular play to compensate for this.

Sports Markets Available With Spreadex

Now what sort of football site would we be if we didn't have a look at both that and any other sports a bookie offers? With Spreadex, we were left pretty satisfied.

You have your regular menu of mainstream sports like football, basketball, tennis and horses and there is a solid smattering of lesser-known, lesser-played markets as well. We had a go with things like table tennis when we had a playthrough.

The submarkets are solid in these sports as well. Like the best bookies in football, First Goalscorer, Asian Lines and Over/Under betting are all available, as are plenty of other solid options like Accumulator Betting and Bet Builders. In addition to that, we liked the look of the #NameIt bets. Think things like #RequestABet and such - unique wagers at very solid odds that you won't find outside of Spreadex, prompting an onus to play with them.

As far as the odds were concerned, we were very happy. The odds on offer are remarkably competitive, and we often found the best prices for specific markets available with Spreadex in comparison to their competitors.

Live Betting and Livestreaming With Spreadex

Spreadex's live offerings are top-of-the-range, to put it in one (or four if you are being pedantic). You can tap into 20 different sports that are all available for in-play bets with constantly updating odds dependent on the ebbs and flows of whatever event you are looking into.

Spreadex also offer some really in-depth stats and figures behind their markets as well, ensuring that keeping up-to-date with any goings-on in your fixture of choice is a breeze. It matters not which sport you are tracking, this bookie has got incisive stats and efficient data that will allow you to make informed decisions no matter which market you are diving into.

Spreadex do also offer a solid livestreaming service. Not every market can be watched live with them, but you can nab onto some horse racing, tennis or greyhounds if you wish. They also have got permission to broadcast the Bulgarian top-flight - the Parva Liga - which is pretty snazzy. And, if they aren't broadcasting under their own umbrella, Spreadex will still kindly provide all the information neccesary as to where you can catch footage of the fixture both in the UK and overseas.

Security and Licensing at Spreadex

Whilst all the bells and whistles brought about with competitive odds and deep under-markets is important, nothing is more important than making sure you are playing with a trusted bookmaker that your money will be safe with. Thankfully, there are no issues to be had with Spreadex.

They are fully licensed by the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) under the license number of 8835. The UKGC are fiercely tight with their scruples behind ensuring a bookie is safe, so their say-so regarding the safety of Spreadex is about the most watertight one in the world. To put it bluntly, you are safe when playing with this operator.

They get top marks for their fairplay and security tools as well. They utilise industry-best SSL encryption to ensure any transactions made with them are safe and secure, whilst they are fully adherent to making sure they promote safer gambling, using tools such as deposit limits and a lengthy amount of information on how to avoid unsafe gambling practices.

Customer Support Available With Spreadex

Not every gambling session is perfect, and issues can always arise during your time playing with any operator, or you may simply end up with a question you need answering that you can't find anywhere you look. A cornerstone for any gambling operator is a solid bank of customer support options, and Spreadex shines again in this department.

There is a 24/7 Live Chat option which is speedy, friendly and efficient. Our testing query was picked up in the evening by a human operator and dealt with in a matter of minutes. Responses were quick and professional, and our issue was sorted at Mach speed. Furthermore, the link to the live chat function is perennially available no matter where you have navigated to, meaning you are always a click away from assistance.

If you don't want to talk in a Live Chat function, Spreadex have available alternatives:

Website Design and Functionality at Spreadex

The website on offer at Spreadex is structurally sound and non-invasive to the eyes. Markets are easy to navigate around, and jumping between options like live betting and casino play is easy to do. The site and mobile app both offer a simple, dark colour scheme that doesn't assault your vision and, on the technical side, loading times are quick and simple.

Our Final Verdict of Spreadex

So, yes, you may only firstly be aware of Spreadex's muscle in the finance and trading industries, but to say that this is the primary level of expertise rather than a sportsbook, this bookie holds it's own perfectly well against some of it's rival competitors and exceeds many of them at several levels.

The level of promotional material on offer coupled with one of the best signup offers available in the entire industry ensure that almost every bet you place with Spreadex will be bolstered and boosted along the way, meaning that every session will have that extra unique edge. The level of detail available in their markets is incredibly solid and all of this is priced with odds you can be more than happy with.

We're early fans of Spreadex, but huge ones already. We highly recommend joining up with them and taking advantage of their solid features today!
