Welcoming Dutch side Feyenoord to the San Siro for the second leg of the UEFA Champions League, AC Milan have a mountain to climb if they are to ensure passage to the knockout stages. Already a goal to the good in the first leg, Feyenoord are looking to lock down a very dangerous attacking Milan side and continue their European dreams alive.
The San Siro’s new number seven proved to be the difference maker in Milan’s last game, as winter signing Santiago Gimenez has now netted a goal in each of his two appearances for his new team. A win over Verona at the weekend saw Sergio Conceicao’s side extend their streak to four games unbeaten in the Serie A, with their last two losses both being in the Champions League.
Feyenoord Champions League campaign has been fun to watch, with the Dutch side smashing Bayern Munich 3-0 and managing a 3-3 draw to defending Premier League champions Manchester City. Their last match saw De Stadionclub held to a stalemate against tenth place NAC, as Feyenoord were wasteful with any goalscoring chances they had.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Predicted Line-Up: Maignan; Hernandez, Pavlovic, Tomori, Walker; Reijnders, Fofana; Leao, Felix, Musah; Gimenez
Conceicao chose to rest his Portuguese star boy Rafael Leao in AC Milan last match, although he did make an appearance and provided an assist off the bench for their 1-0 victory over Verona. Most likely to be given the start for this game, Leao has already managed four goal contributions and completed more dribbles than anyone else in the Champions League. With the Serie A not going their way, Conceicao will hope that his side are able to rise to the challenge ahead.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Predicted Line-Up: Wellenreuther; Smal, Hancko, Beelen, Read; Milambo, Moder; Paixao, Ivanusec, Hadj Moussa; Carranza
Feyenoord were hit with some terrible news, as their first leg triumph has been met with dismay as captain Quinton Timber was forced off the pitch and was since left out of the squad in their last league match. Against a side with huge attacking prowess, losing one of their most solid defenders could not have come at a worse time for Feyenoord.
Feyenoord are already one goal up on their opponents, with a horrible mistake from one of the best goalkeepers currently playing, Mike Maignan. The first leg of the knockout playoff stage was the first time in which these two sides ever faced off against each other.
With the loss of Quentin Timber, Feyenoord will have extra work cut out for them to ensure the cushion they have is enough to see them through to the next round of the tournament. Bringing momentum from a win in their last game, AC Milan have everything to gain in this game.
For this reason, our betting professionals suggest AC Milan to Win is the best value tip for this game. With odds at 5/13, a bet of £10 could see a return of up to £13.84
(odds subject to change)
