Paulo Fonesca’s AC Milan side are taking on Luca Gotti’s Lecce team this Friday. It’s set to be an exciting Serie A clash.
The fixture will take place at the iconic San Siro stadium, as fans take in the last few moments of it’s rich history.
Until last weekend, I would’ve told you that both teams are in poor form, however that’s all changed.
The pressure has eased on Fonesca as he secures his role as Milan manager, and the team look promising at the moment. They’ve clearly got a better side than Lecce.
Predicted Lineup - Maignan; Emerson, Tomori, Gabbia, Hernandez; Fofana, Reijnders; Pulisic, Morata, Leao; Abraham
Before the enticing Milan Derby last time out, Milan had been in poor form. With only one win in the league, and a loss to Liverpool in the Champions League, pressure was growing on Fonesca’s role as Milan boss.
However, a convincing 2-1 win at the San Siro means Fonesca has bought himself time at the Italian giants. The result was even more impressive given how the fixture has gone for Milan in recent years.
Christian Pulisic looks to have really come into his own this season, with the American finally fulfilling the potential that was suppressed at Chelsea. Another one of Pulisic’s former sides are in action at the same time as this fixture, and we’ve provided an expert tip for Dortmund vs Bochum
Predicted Lineup - Falcone; Pelmard, Gaspar, Baschirotto, Gallo; Ramadani, Coulibaly; Dorgu, Rebic, Morente; Krstovic
Lecce have been in poor form so far this season, with their only win so far this season coming over Cagliari, and disappointingly lost 4-0 to Atalanta on the opening day.
They’re yet to register a goal away from home this season, a trend which we think will continue, and subsequently they’ll be relying on Falcone in goal if they’re to have any chance in this fixture.
Ac Milan have faced Lecce 18 times since 2003, and it’s safe to say the record doesn’t look good for the away side.
Milan have won 10 of the games, seven have ended in draws, and somehow just one has ended with a Lecce win.
6th April 2024 - Milan 3-0 Lecce - Serie A
11th November 2023 - Lecce 2-2 Milan - Serie A
23rd April 2023 - Milan 2-0 Lecce - Serie A
14th January 2023 - Lecce 1-1 Milan - Serie A
22nd June 2020 - Lecce 1-4 Milan - Serie A
Whilst Lecce do have a fair bit of quality in their squad, including former Milan star Ante Rebic, the ball seems to be in Milan’s court for this match. Given Lecce are yet to score away from home, Milan’s defence will have no issue dealing with them. Also the quality with Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic in attack will see Milan through.
We think overall the best value tip is Milan to win and both teams to not score, backed up by our research.
Odds of 11/8 on BetFred mean that a £10 bet has the potential to return up to £23.75 in this match.
(odds subject to change)
AC Milan 2-0 US Lecce
This’ll be a great match, and certainly worth a watch. Whilst it’s still yet to be seen if Milan can keep up their excellent derby performance, they’ll still breeze past their opponents.
It’s a great opportunity to really demonstrate the quality they possess.
