This Friday’s A-League action sees Melbourne City make the trip to face Adelaide United at Coopers Stadium. This is a crucial match for both sides with them being in the top half of the table and near the qualification spots.
Both teams come into this match with similar form, obtaining three wins, one loss but Melbourne have suffered another defeat compared to Adelaide’s draw. Adelaide are the better time ahead of kick-off in terms of results, goals and the fact they are five places above their opponents. This Friday seems to be an interesting match as despite losses for both teams in their last match, the rest of the season they have been great.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Predicted Line-Up: Ethan Cox; Ryan Kitto, Malual Nichola, Bart Vriends, Dylan Pierias; Jay Barnett, Ethan Alagich; Austin Ayoubi, Stefan Mauk, Zach Clough; Archie Goodwin
Adelaide United are having a great start to the season, finding themselves inside a title race so early on into the campaign. After 14 games they sit in second place with eight wins, two losses and four draws. Those matches have left them with 28 points, leaving them five points behind current A-League leaders Auckland FC, however Adelaide do have a game in hand to them. In the goals for The Reds has been striker Archie Goodwin. He has been responsible for finding the back of the net seven times this season. With Adelaide missing some key players due to international call ups, Goodwin, alongside the rest of his Adelaide teammates will have to be at their best to secure another three points this Friday.
Formation: 4-1-4-1
Predicted Line-Up: Patrick Beach; Aziz Behich (c), Samuel Souprayen, Kai Trewin, Callum Talbot; Steven Ugarkovic; Kavian Rahmani, Lawrence Wong, Nathaniel Atkinson, Benjamin Mazzeo; Arion Sulemani
Melbourne City have had a great start to the season, but results in recent weeks have them finding themselves just outside the qualification places. After 14 games they sit in seventh place with seven wins, four losses and three draws. Those matches have left them with 24 points, sharing that tally with two other teams but it is goal difference that leaves them further down the table. Stepping up this season for City has been winger Yonatan Cohen. He has found the back of the net four times and provided an assist in the nine games he’s featured in this season. He is unfortunately looking like he will miss this match through injury so the rest of the Melbourne City squad will have to all try and make the difference against Adelaide United this Friday.
The last five faceoffs have been split in the favour of neither team with Adelaide and Melbourne winning two out of the five matches, leaving the remaining match ending with both sides sharing a point. This fixture usually produces plenty of goals and that does seem like it will change this Friday.

19th October 2023 – Adelaide United 6-0 Melbourne City – A-League

Recent losses might seem like these teams are performing worse than they actually are. Adelaide in particular have been great at finding the back of the net in their last five games but at the same time, they have been a bit leaky in defence.
For that reason, our betting experts have gone with Both Teams To Score as our best value tip for this game.
Odds of 1/2 mean that a £10 bet has the potential to return up to £15.10 in this match.
