Bottom of the Süper Lig side Adana Demirspor travel to 12th place Antalyaspor with the aim to lift themselves up and no longer reside dead last domestically.
The Süper Lig started almost a month ago now and Antalyaspor kicked off their campaign with a goalless draw against Göztepe. It got worse after that, losing to Beşiktaş in a 4-2 defeat that saw them a man down after a red card was brandished to Güray Vural in the 62nd minute. Antalyaspor got back to winning way though in their following game after a 3-2 home victory against Hatayspor but then it was straight back to earning no points as they lost in a 5-2 thrashing from Başakşehir.
A middle table finish in 10th last season will be something that they will look to improve on but The Scorpions have zig zagged between top 10 and as low as 17th for the last 10 years so the start of the season could be an indication that this year will not end up being a good one.
If Antalyaspor have started this season off badly, then what can be said about Demirspor. Currently in last place in the Süper Lig standings, they have lost all but one of their first four games, a singular draw sparing them from being unable to win. They have however been thrown into the deep end within these games playing two out of three of the biggest teams in Turkish history.
Adana did well to hold Fenerbahçe to just the one goal as part of their opening game of the 2024/25 season. Next game was a 1-2 home loss to Rizespor where they had to wait until seven minutes of added time to finally find the back of the net. The draw was up next, once again leaving it to additional time but in this case, it was to equalise and share a point with Kasımpaşa. Then facing off against Turkish giants Galatasaray where they were dominated and handed a heavy 1-5 defeat, also receiving a red card in the 89th minute.
There are positives for Mavi Şimşekler. This meeting has not ended in a draw in the last four fixtures. Even better news and Demirspor have won three out of four of those games. They will look to add to that tally in this one given both sides are going through a rough patch at the moment.
