The biggest game of the Premier League weekend sees two of the best teams in England go head to head.
Third place Arsenal host top of the league Liverpool at the Emirates on Sunday 27th October 2024 in a game that could be crucial to the season even still so early on. But who will come out on top?
This weekend we are set to see a huge matchup in the Premier League as Arsenal take on Liverpool.
The implications of this game are huge with both sides battling for top spot in the table. Even still so early on this game could be considered a title decider. Both teams will be eager to pick up three points especially with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City still battling alongside them in the table.
Arsenal Predicted Lineup - David Raya; Oleksander Zinchenko, Gabriel, Ben White, Jurrien Timber; Declan Rice, Thomas Partey, Mikel Merino; Gabriel Martinelli, Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka
Arsenal come into this game sat in third place on 17 points from eight games. They have lost just one match - that defeat coming at the hands of Bournemouth last weekend.
Despite that defeat Arsenal have so often been effective this season as they have in previous campaigns as well. So far they have scored 15 goals - the joint second most in the division - as well as conceding just eight - the second least in the league.
They will, of course, be without William Saliba for this game due to his red card in the previous match. Will this have an effect on the result in this match?
Liverpool Predicted Lineup - Caoimhin Kelleher; Andrew Robertson, Virgil Van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Trent Alexander-Arnold; Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister; Luis Diaz, Dominik Szoboszlai, Mohamed Salah; Darwin Nunez
Arne Slot’s Liverpool have been incredible this season. They are currently top of the league having picked up 21 points in eight. Just one defeat and seven wins leaving them a point clear at the top.
The fact they have scored the joint second most goals in the league (15) has helped however most impressively they have only conceded three goals so far. No team has conceded less. This giving props to their defensive ability in games.
Not only has their defence been good but the attacking play - especially through Mohamed Salah has been majestic. Salah has five goals and six assists so far this campaign. Considering he loves a goal against Arsenal as well (he has ten against the Gunners in 16 games) we would expect him to be heavily involved again here.
Arsenal and Liverpool are two of the most historic sides in England. That being said they have played won another 242 times competitively prior to this game.
Liverpool hold the advantage in this fixture having claimed 95 victories to Arsenal’s 83. They have also drawn 64 times in those games.
Interestingly, Arsenal have only lost one of the last five games against Liverpool. Something they will be keen to continue in this game. In those last five games 17 goals have been scored so expect a fair amount of goals in this one as well.
4th February 2024 - Arsenal 3-1 Liverpool - Premier League
7th January 2024 - Arsenal 0-2 Liverpool - FA Cup
23rd December 2023 - Liverpool 1-1 Arsenal - Premier League
9th April 2023 - Liverpool 2-2 Arsenal - Premier League
9th October 2022 - Arsenal 3-2 Liverpool - Premier League
This game is going to be a close game with both sides very evenly matched. Arsenal will be keen to bounce back in the league following a shocking defeat to Bournemouth last time out while Liverpool will want to continue their impressive run.
It will certainly be a controlled game with both sides most likely struggling to break the other down. It is going to be very even.
That is why our team of professional tipping experts are backing odds of 9/2 for a Half Time/Full Time Draw/Draw in this one. These odds mean that £10 has the potential to return up to £56 making it our best value selection.
