This Saturday’s Serie A action sees Napoli make the trip to face Atalanta at the Gewiss Stadium. This is a crucial match for both sides as they are directly fighting each other to be crowned champions come the end of the season.
Both sides are in great form heading into this game, however it is Napoli that come out on top, winning in their last five consecutive matches. Atalanta’s form might have slightly dipped recently but they are still very much in a title fight. This Saturday looks set up to be back and forth match with a lot on the line.
Formation: 3-4-1-2
Predicted Line-Up: Marco Carnesecchi; Giorgio Scalvani, Isak Hein, Berat Djimsiti; Matteo Ruggeri, Éderson, Marten De Roon (c), Raoul Bellanova; Mario Pasalic; Ademola Lookman, Charles De Ketelaere
Atalanta are having a phenomenal start to the season, but have slightly faltered as of late, however they still find themselves on a title charge. After 20 games they sit in third place with 13 wins, three losses and four draws. Those matches have left them with 43 points, one point behind second placed Inter Milan and four behind opponents Napoli. In the goals for La Dea has been the 25 year old Mateo Retegui. He has put the ball in the back of the net 13 times, making him not only the top scorer for his side, but also the top scorer in the Serie A. Despite this, Retegui hasn’t nailed his place in the starting lineup since slowly making his way back to full fitness after picking up a hamstring injury. In the meantime, the duo of Ademola Lookman and Charles De Ketelaere have been excellent in lieu of the Genoa loanee so that could be where Atalanta find success in the final third this Saturday.
Formation: 4-3-3
Predicted Line-Up: Alex Meret; Mathías Olivera, Juan Jesus, Amir Rrahmani, Giovanni Di Lorenzo (c); Scott McTominay, Stanislav Lobotka, Frank Anguissa; David Neres, Romelu Lukaku, Matteo Politano
Napoli are having a phenomenal start to the season, finding themselves in a race to lift the Scudetto come the end of the campaign. After 20 games they sit in first place with 15 wins, three losses and two draws. Those matches have left them with 47 points, three points clear of their closest title rivals in Inter Milan but unfortunately for Napoli, they have a game in hand. In the goals for Gli Azzurri has been Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian has put up 13 goal contributions this season, split into seven goals and six assists. Antonio Conte will be devastated knowing that Khvicha Kvaratskhelia won’t be available for personal reasons as his transfer to Paris St-Germain is pending but he might be cheered up knowing that winger Matteo Politano has returned to full fitness. It might come down to the back line to make this difference this Saturday as Napoli have kept clean sheets in their last three consecutive matches, adding more to their tally of 12 this season, the most in the Serie A.
The last five faceoffs have been split in the favour of Napoli, winning three times and losing to Atalanta twice. It looks like a tough match to call with both teams having great seasons but Napoli have been able to keep their world class form, it seems more likely for the three points to be heading their way this Saturday.
