It is the last gameweek before the winter break in the Bundesliga, and Bayern Munich have a tough home test as they host RB Leipzig. Bayern have a strong lead in the league, but will want to put safe distance between themselves and the chasing pack.
Bayern lost their first league game of the season last time out, falling to a 2-1 defeat to Mainz away from home. Before that, their last defeat in the Bundesliga came on the final day of the 2023/24 season.
RB Leipzig’s recent form hasn’t been as good. They have won their last two matches in the Bundesliga, but prior to that, they lost two in a row, conceding nine goals in the process. They will hope that those results are behind them and that they can build on their two recent wins.
Bayern Munich Predicted Lineup - Daniel Peretz; Raphael Guerreiro, Kim Min-jae, Dayot Upamecano, Konrad Laimer; Aleksandar Pavlovic, Joshua Kimmich; Leroy Sane, Jamal Musiala, Michael Olise; Harry Kane
Former Manchester City winger Leroy Sane scored Bayern’s only goal in their recent 2-1 defeat to Mainz, so he could keep his place in the team. There are a lot of players missing for the German giants as they are without Manuel Neuer, Alphonso Davies, Hiroki Ito, Josip Stanisic, Joao Palhinha, Serge Gnabry or Kingsley Coman.
Harry Kane is once again the league’s top goal scorer with 14 so far this season. He missed the last two matches, but should be fit enough for at least a cameo if not a full start in this match.
RB Leipzig Predicted Lineup - Maarten Vandevoordt; Lutsharel Geertruida, Willi Orban, Nicolas Seiwald; Antonio Nusa, Kevin Kampl, Xaver Schlager, Christoph Baumgatner, Benjamin Henrichs; Lois Openda, Benjamin Sesko
Leipzig’s last match was an impressive 2-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt, which brought the hosts level on points with the visitors. I expect that, given the nature of the win, Leipzig will be mostly unchanged unless there are some injuries in training this week.
The two strikers for Leipzig have been quite impressive this season, but Lois Openda has certainly been the better of the two. He has six goals and three assists in the campaign so far. He joined the club from Lens in 2023 and has already scored 38 times.
Despite Bayern’s dominance of German football in recent years, this fixture has been close, and Leipzig even have a few recent wins under their belt. Bayern won the home fixture last season, but the last time they won two home league games in a row against Leipzig was back in 2018 when Frank Ribery scored the only goal.
24th Feb 2024 - Bayern Munich 2-1 RB Leipzig - Bundesliga
30th Sep 2023 - RB Leipzig 2-2 Bayern Munich - Bundesliga
12th Aug 2023 - Bayern Munich 0-3 RB Leipzig - DFL Supercup
20th May 2023 - Bayern Munich 1-3 RB Leipzig - Bundesliga
20th Jan 2023 - RB Leipzig 1-1 Bayern Munich - Bundesliga
Games between these two teams are usually close, but Bayern are in good form despite this weekend’s little stumble so they should get the result over Leipzig. When they are in the mood, Bayern can blow teams away quickly, and if Kane is fit enough to start then they’ll have a proven goalscorer to convert the chances that they create.
With all of this in mind, our team of professional experts have decided that the best tip for this game is Half Time/Full Time - Bayern Munich/Bayern Munich. Odds of 5/6 on Quinnbet means that a £10 bet could see a potential return of £18.33.
(odds subject to change)
