Birmingham City vs Walsall Betting Tips and Predictions | Football Park

It might be the International Break but here at Football Park that doesn’t mean that the tips will stop coming. We have a great one for Tuesday’s EFL Trophy match between Birmingham City and Walsall. Find out what it is below.

Birmingham City

Birmingham have had some good performances in League One this season following their relegation from the Championship last year. The 2023/24 season saw them end the campaign in 22nd place with 13 wins, 22 losses and 11 draws, totalling 50 points. However, they currently have three wins and a draw to their name as they shared a point with Reading in a 1-1 draw on the opening game of the season and then went on to win both their next games versus Wycombe Wanderers, Leyton Orient and Wigan. They left it late against Wigan though, relying on a 90+1 minute winner thanks to Scott Wright.

It might have been a few decades ago now, but Birmingham actually were winners in this competition in the 1990/91 season, beating Tranmere Rovers 3-2. The Blues will want to try and replicate that feat near 35 years later and they have a great opportunity to do so in their first group stage match against Walsall. They are in great scoring form having found the back of the net eight times in their last five games, plus they will be able to deploy new League One transfer record signing Jay Stansfield who joined the club on deadline day.

Birmingham City vs Walsall

Walsall

Fans of Walsall are enjoying watching their team at the moment as they currently have three wins and one loss in League Two, placing them in second. Two wins from the first two games of the season against Morecambe and Swindon Town, a 0-4 thrashing in that one preceding an unfortunate loss to Tranmere Rovers. Walsall did manage to get back to winning ways in their next games though as they were 2-1 victors versus Cheltenham Town.

Whilst they may not have won this competition like their opponents, Walsall came mightily close during the 2014/15 season. They had a run that sent them all the way to the Final but they were handed a 0-2 defeat at the hands of Bristol City. This season most likely see similar results but Walsall will definitely be giving it their best against a team that play in the division above them.

What’s the tip?

Our betting experts have gone with a Draw. Birmingham on paper have the better side and are in good form coming into this match but as they are now have been knocked out of the Carabao Cup, they may set their attention to doing the best they can in the league. As this match is less important to them, we could see a draw at the end of 90 minutes.
