The EFL Championship season continues this weekend (Saturday 28th September 2024) with what is sure to be a very intriguing fixture between Blackburn Rovers and QPR at Ewood Park. Both sides are looking to improve further on their starts to the season.
This has certainly been an interesting campaign for both sides. Blackburn Rovers remain unbeaten in the league while QPR have only lost one game this campaign. However QPR have failed to find the finishing edge giving Blackburn a slight advantage.
This game is sure to be close with both sides looking to pick up wins while also continuing to play good football as they have done throughout this season.
Blackburn Rovers Predicted Lineup - Aynsley Pears; Harry Pickering, Dominic Hyam, Danny Batth, Hayden Carter; Lewis Travis, Sondre Tronstad; Todd Cantwell, Tyrhys Dolan, Ryan Hedges; Yuki Ohashi
Blackburn are one of just three teams that remain unbeaten in the league this campaign. That being said they currently sit 4th in the table on 12 points.
Despite losing top scorer last season Sammie Szmodics to Ipswich Town they are still finding the back of the net efficiently as well. This season they have scored 12 goals in the league - this the second most of any team.
A big part of that goal scoring threat is striker Yuki Ohashi who has four goals in six games this year. This putting him joint 3rd in the EFL Championship top scorers list. If anyone is to impact this game it will surely be him.
QPR Predicted Lineup - Paul Nadri; Kenneth Paal, Jake Clarke-Salter, Steve Cook; Sam Field, Nicolas Madsen; Paul Smyth, Lucas Andersen, Karamoko Dembele; Michael Frey
Currently QPR sit 14th in the league on seven points. However they have only lost one game this season - this at the hands of current top of the league West Brom on the opening day.
Despite this though they have only won one game drawing on four occasions suggesting that maybe they lack the finishing touch to go and win games. This something they will be keen to change in this match. If they can start picking up victories they could be in a much better place.
New signing Karamoko Dembele has impressed this season since joining the club. In fact he has created the 4th most chances in the division this season so far (15). If he can continue to do that going forward QPR could be on for a successful rest of the campaign.
This is set to be the 60th meeting between Blackburn Rovers and QPR.
It is actually Blackburn Rovers that have the advantage of the two teams having won 29 of those matches. This while QPR have won just 18 games. There have also been 12 draws in that time.
Despite this it was QPR that came away with the victory in the previous match. This a 2-1 win back in February.. Can they do the same again in this game?
3rd February 2024 - Blackburn Rovers 1-2 QPR - EFL Championship
7th October 2023 - QPR 0-4 Blackburn Rovers - EFL Championship
25th February 2023 - QPR 1-3 Blackburn Rovers - EFL Championship
30th July 2022 - Blackburn Rovers 1-0 QPR - EFL Championship
26th February 2022 - Blackburn Rovers 1-0 QPR - EFL Championship
We can’t help but feel as though this game will be a very close contest.
Both teams have proven to be difficult to beat as well as showing the ability to score goals in games. This suggests that this match in particular will be a struggle for both sides to win.
Neither team has any real huge advantage over the other and therefore we would expect this game to end in a draw.
That is why our team of professional tipping experts have selected odds of 18/5 for a Draw and Both Teams To Score in this game. These odds mean that a £10 bet has the potential to return up to £46.
(Odds subject to change)
Blackburn Rovers 1-1 QPR
This is bound to be a close contest. Blackburn will continue their unbeaten start while QPR will take home another point - a valuable one at that against a team higher in the table.
The game will surely be an exciting watch with both teams creating plenty of chances. We just can’t help but feel it will end even.
