League One has been wild this season, with many a story unfolding in the third division of English football. Now, our expert tips and predictions have led us here.
Steve Bruce’s Blackpool take on Darrell Clarke’s Barnsley team this Saturday.
Whilst both teams are on level points in the table, sitting 10th and 11th respectively, there’s different feelings around both camps I’d imagine.
Blackpool have looked really promising since appointing Steve Bruce, and are definitely a side to be reckoned with.
Blackpool Predicted Line-up - Harry Tyrer, Jordan Lawrence-Gabriel, Odeluga Offiah, Oliver Casey, James Husband, CJ Hamilton, Albie Morgan, Lee Evans, Robert Apter, Ashley Fletcher, Kyle Joseph
Blackpool appointed Steve Bruce in September, and he’s been pretty successful in his first six games.
Whilst they did fall off a bit, with a loss against Mansfield just before the international break, it’s actually Bruce’s best ever start to a managerial role, and he’s really got Blackpool playing.
Lee Evans will be vital in midfield, he’s already got four assists in his first 10 games this season. Andy Lyons is still out injured, so won’t be available for selection.
Barnsley Predicted Line-up - Gabriel Slonina, Josh Earl, Marc Roberts, Mael de Gevigney, Georgie Gent, Luca Connell, Matthew Craig, Barry Cotter, Davis Keillor-Dunn, Stephen Humphrys, Sam Cosgrove
Barnsley would’ve been looking for promotion to the EFL Championship this season, and while it’s still not off the cards, they’ll need a serious upturn of form if that’s to happen.
Their last two matches have been consecutive 2-0 losses to Huddersfield Town, perhaps an indication of a needed change of tactics.
Captain Luca Connell will be key, he’s been amongst the goals and assists with two apiece this season.
The two sides have met 30 times since 2004. Among them, Blackpool have won 11 games, while Barnsley have also won 11 games.
Eight matches have resulted in a draw.
20th April 2024- Blackpool 3-2 Barnsley - League One
5th December 2023 - Blackpool 2-1 Barnsley - EFL Trophy
30th September 2023 - Barnsley 0-1 Blackpool - League One
26th April 2022 - Barnsley 0-2 Blackpool - Championship
25th September 2021 - Blackpool 1-0 Barnsley - Championship
Although both teams are level on points, we don’t think this game is going to result in a draw. However, it will be a tight contest, with both sides definitely scoring.
Blackpool have looked really promising under Bruce, and that’s what will tip the scales in the favour, along with home advantage.
We think overall the best value tip is Blackpool to win and both teams to score, backed up by our research.
Odds of 11/4 on QuinnBet mean that a £10 bet has the potential to return up to £37.50 in this match.
(odds subject to change)

This game will be very tight, with Blackpool just slightly edging their opponents.
