This week’s Monday night football in the Premier League comes from Dean Court as Bournemouth, who have been impressive as of late, host West Ham. Pressure on Julen Lopetegui has subsided recently, but a loss here could change that.
Bournemouth come into this match off the back of a late comeback against Ipswich. The Cherries were 1-0 down as late as the 87th minute when Enes Unal bundled in a goal on the back post. The winner came thanks to Dango Ouattara, who finished off a well worked move.
West Ham also won their last match, as they beat Wolves 2-1 at home. The match had been dubbed ‘El Sackico’ as both Lopetegui and Gary O’Neil looked close to the exit door at their respective clubs. Despite losing the match, Wolves’ board reiterated their support of O’Neil after the match.
Bournemouth Predicted Lineup - Kepa Arrizabalaga; Milos Kerkez, Dean Huijsen, Illia Zabarnyi, Adam Smith; Ryan Christie, Tyler Adams; Antoine Semenyo, Justin Kluivert, David Brooks; Evanilson
Bournemouth have a bit of an injury problem at the moment with Marcos Senesi, Marcus Tavernier, Alex Scott, Julian Araujo and Luis Sinisterra all out. On top of that, they have two players on four bookings: Lewis Cook and Justin Kluivert. Not worth risking missing two key players for the same fixture due to suspension, I think that Andoni Iraola will start Tyler Adams in midfield over Cook, saving him for the Manchester United game.
People have been waxing lyrical over Antoine Semenyo so far this season, but I think that Evanilson has gone a little bit under the radar. Had he not missed a penalty against Chelsea earlier in the season, then he would probably be the club’s first choice spot kick taker, and have four goals to his tally of four so far this season. He made history against Wolves as he became the first player to win three penalties in the same match, emphasising the problems he can cause for defenders.
West Ham Predicted Lineup - Lukas Fabianski; Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Max Kilman, Konstantinos Mavropanos, Vladimir Coufal; Tomas Soucek, Edson Alvarez; Crysencio Summerville, Lucas Paqueta, Mohammed Kudus; Jarrod Bowen
Tomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen scored either side of a Matt Doherty strike last Monday to give West Ham a much needed win as they put distance between themselves and the teams fighting at the foot of the table. Michail Antonio is still in hospital following his car accident last weekend, and Emerson will also miss this match after receiving a fifth yellow card this season.
Crysencio Summerville has been electric in West Ham’s attack so far this season, but sometimes he is wasteful with his final decision. He joined from Leeds United in the summer and has just one league goal so far this season.
When Bournemouth were first promoted into the Premier League, they played quite well against West Ham, but their form against the Hammers has dropped significantly in recent years. In fact they haven’t beaten them since January 2019, when Callum Wilson scored an incredible volley.
28th Aug 2024 - West Ham 1-0 Bournemouth - League Cup
1st Feb 2024 - West Ham 1-1 Bournemouth - Premier League
12th Aug 2023 - Bournemouth 1-1 West Ham - Premier League
23rd Apr 2023 - Bournemouth 0-4 West Ham - Premier League
24th Oct 2022 - West Ham 2-0 Bournemouth - Premier League
Despite recent history, Bournemouth are the favourites to win this match due to their recent run of form. The injuries may hamper their performance in this game especially in the second half when they run out of quality from the bench, but I think that they will have too much for West Ham
With all of this in mind, our team of professional experts have decided that the best tip for this game is for Bournemouth to Win and Over 1.5 Goals. Odds of 49/50 on Highbet means that a £10 bet could see a potential return of £19.80.
(odds subject to change)
