The League Two promotion race hasn’t exactly been full of quality this season, but nevertheless we are bringing you the best expert tips and predictions for this weekend.
Graham Alexander’s Bradford City host Mark Bonner’s Gillingham team this weekend.
Both sides have had mostly positive starts to the EFL League Two season, Bradford sit in seventh with 18 points, whilst Gillingham are in fifth with 19 points.
Both teams will be desperate to win this one, so they can progress past their opponents and push toward the automatic promotion spots.
Bradford City Predicted Line-up - Sam Walker; Lewis Richards, Cheick Diabate, Brad Halliday; Tyreik Wright, Jamie Walker, Richard Smallwood, Clarke Oduor, Jay Benn; Calum Kavanagh, Andy Cook
Bradford have had a really impressive start to the season, and have stayed around the play-off spots with really solid form in the past few weeks.
They’ve had impressive wins over Newport and Tranmere in their last two matches.
Andy Cook will be key, he’s already notched a whopping seven goals in League Two this season.
Gillingham Predicted Line-up - Luca Ashby Hammond; Max Clark, Shadrach Ogie, Max Ehmer, Remeao Hutton; Armani Little, Ethan Coleman; Jayden Clarke, Marcus Wyllie, Jack Nolan; Elliot Nevitt
Whilst Gillingham did have a strong start to the season, recent downturn in form has seen them drop out of the top three. It’s been a similar story for most of the top teams in the division, and Gillingham will be desperate to stop the trend.
Whilst Gillingham had a positive movement off the pitch the other day, the results haven’t been great on the field.
A win over Barrow earlier in the season is the only result keeping them above their upcoming opponents in the table. However, their downturn has been hinged on a failure to create good chances, something that needs to change soon.
Elliot Nevitt will need to sharpen up in front of goal if they’re to find a result here.
The two sides have faced each other 30 times since 2003. Bradford City have won 10 of these meetings, while Gillingham have won 11.
Nine of these meetings have resulted in a draw.
Only one match has resulted in a draw.
6th April 2023 - Bradford 1-0 Gillingham - League Two
16th December 2023 - Gillingham 0-2 Bradford - League Two
22nd April 2023 - Bradford 2-2 Gillingham - League Two
25th February 2023 - Gillingham 0-2 Bradford - League Two
22nd April 2019 - Bradford 1-1 Gillingham - League Two
Despite how close these teams are in the table, we can’t see this fixture ending in a draw. Bradford have looked really exciting in their past two fixtures.
On the other hand, Gillingham have looked pretty poor in the same time frame, they’ve scored just one in their last three. Also, they haven’t even looked like scoring at many points, struggling to create chances.
We think overall the best value tip is Bradford City to win, backed up by our research.
Odds of 23/20 on BetFred mean that a £10 bet has the potential to return up to £21.50 in this match.
(odds subject to change)
Bradford City 2-0 Gillingham
Bradford won’t have any struggle against Gillingham’s weak attacking line.
