This weekend’s EFL Championship action sees Swansea make the short trip over the Bristol Channel to face fellow South Western side Bristol City at Ashton Gate. Swansea have had a tough 2025 so far going through a rough winless patch which has seen them drop back down the table. They will be looking to turn their form around against a Robins side that is just two points off the playoffs in 9th, however with the close nature of the Championship, a loss could see Bristol City fall up to five places down the table.
In Bristol City's last six they have won twice drawn three times and lost once. The be inability to turn those draws into wins is why Bristol City sit outside the play offs currently, with it being especially frustrating that those three draws have all come against sides lower than them in the table.
Swansea City have not won in six matches (1D 5L) this fall off in form has seen them drop down the table to 17th, seven points off the relegation zone. Luke Williams previously managed Bristol City’s under-23s, but there is a lot of pressure on his return to Ashton Gate with results needing to improve soon.
Predicted Line Up (3-4-3): Max O’Leary, Zak Vyner, Rob Dickie, Luke McNally, Mark Sykes, Haydon Roberts, Jason Knight, Max Bird, Scott Twine, Anis Mehmeti, Nahki Wells
With no new signings in the winter transfer window, Bristol City will look to those who have won them points all season to continue their strong campaign. Nahki Wells and Anis Mehmeti both have 10 goal contributions in all competitions this season and are the Robins’ biggest outlet for goals.
Predicted Line Up (4-2-3-1): Lawrence Vigouroux, Josh Key, Ben Cabango, Hannes Delcroix, Josh Tymon, Goncalo Franco, Lewis O’Brien, Myles Peart-Harris, Liam Cullen, Ronald Pereira Martins, Florian Bianchini
After a decade at the club, Matt Grimes finally moved on to Coventry City last week, Lewis O’Brien was drafted in on loan from Nottingham Forest. O’Brien could be the deciding factor in Swansea’s season, with the midfielder previously proving himself in the Championship at Huddersfield and Middlesborough, he has also played overseas for LAFC and DC United.
