The EFL Championship season continues this Saturday as Burnley take on Portsmouth in what will surely be an intriguing fixture.
Burnley and Portsmouth have met in competitive fixtures 56 times in their histories.
It is this weekend’s hosts that have a slight advantage in this one having won 24 games to Portsmouth’s 23. There have only ever been 9 draws though.
The last time they played a match though was in March 2012. A game that ended 5-1 to Burnley. Will the same happen here?
Both teams come into this game with various absentees.
Burnley will be without Nathan Redmond, Mike Tresor, Jordan Beyer, Hjalmar Ekdal, Aaron Ramsey and Hannes Delcroix through injury in this game. Bashir Humphreys will also miss out on the game following his red card against Leeds United last weekend.
Ben Stevenson, Tom Lowery and Colby Bishop will all miss this game for Portsmouth. While Jacob Farrell is a doubt.
Burnley - James Trafford, Lucas Pires, CJ Egan-Riley, Joe Worrall, Connor Roberts, Josh Brownhill, Josh Laurent, Jaidon Anthony, Hannibal Mejbri, Luca Koleosho, Lyle Foster
Portsmouth - Will Norris, Connor Ogilvie, Regan Poole, Conor Shaughnessy, Zak Swanson, Abdoublaye Kamara, Marlon Pack, Josh Murphy, Callum Lang, Harvey Blair, Christian Saydee
Burnley captain, Josh Brownhill, is often pivotal for Burnley and this game should be no different.
So far he has two goals for The Clarets - this more than anyone else on the team.
Expect him to have a similar impact in this game to that of what he has so often so far this season already.
Coming into this game Portsmouth are greatly struggling while Burnley are flying under Scott Parker. We can’t help but think that will continue.
And with Burnley conceding so few goals and Portsmouth struggling to put the ball in the back of the net we would expect the hosts to get a clean sheet in this game as well.
That is why we are backing Burnley To Win To Nil in this game. At odds of 6/4, £10 has the potential to return up to £25 making it our best value tip.
This game kicks off on Saturday 21st September 2024 at 15:00 pm. Unfortunately, due to the 3pm UK blackout this game is unavailable to watch live.
