After a weekend of FA Cup action for the Premier League teams, they return to league action in midweek. Both Chelsea and Bournemouth are fighting for European spots but currently it is the Cherries who are in better form.
Chelsea have struggled over the congested Christmas period, with their last league win coming at the expense of Brentford back on the 15th of December. Since then they have lost to Fulham and Ipswich and drawn with Everton and Crystal Palace. Bournemouth will be thinking that they can definitely get a result here.
The Cherries are currently in unbelievable form, having not lost since they played Brighton at the end of November. They have beaten Wolves, Tottenham, Manchester United, Ipswich and Everton in their last eight matches and draw against Crystal Palace, Fulham and West Ham.
Chelsea Predicted Lineup - Robert Sanchez; Marc Cucurella, Levi Colwill, Axel Disasi, Malo Gusto; Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez; Jaidon Sancho, Cole Palmer, Noni Madueke; Nicolas Jackson
Chelsea have a few injuries at the back but generally speaking they are in good shape for this match. They have an FA Cup tie at the weekend against Morecambe but I doubt many first team players will make an appearance in that match which would mean that their most crucial players are well rested for the game against the Cherries.
Cole Palmer is by far the most important player for Chelsea. The Englishman has 13 goals in 20 matches this season as well as six assists. However he is not the only attacking threat that the Blues have. Nicolas Jackson, for all that has been said about him on social media, has nine goals this season; a respectable number for a striker.
Bournemouth Predicted Lineup - Mark Travers; Milos Kerkez, Dean Huijsen, Illia Zabarnyi, James Hill; Ryan Christie, Lewis Cook; Dango Ouattara, Justin Kluivert, David Brooks; Antoine Semenyo
Bournemouth are in serious trouble on the injury front. In the space of two days they lost their only two strikers at the club to long term injuries, and that is on top of the six first team players already missing. Against Everton, they had a bench that consisted of three outfield players without any Premier League experience.
David Brooks has returned to a bit of form lately having made some appearances off the bench. He scored the only goal against Everton giving the Cherries three well earnt points. With the injuries to both Luis Sinisterra and Marcus Tavernier he is getting a lot more playing time that he would have expected and it is obvious that he wants to make his mark.
Recently, Chelsea have dominated fixtures between the two sides, but when Bournemouth first got promoted to the Premier League, they tended to enjoy games against the Blues. Bournemouth famously won 3-0 at Stamford Bridge back in 2018 and also won 4-0 at home in the next season.
14th Sep 2024 - Bournemouth 0-1 Chelsea - Premier League
19th May 2024 - Chelsea 2-1 Bournemouth - Premier League
17th Sep 2023 - Bournemouth 0-0 Chelsea - Premier League
6th May 2023 - Bournemouth 1-3 Chelsea - Premier League
27th Dec 2022 - Chelsea 2-0 Bournemouth - Premier League
This game will be a close affair, as Chelsea, despite being higher in the table, have struggled as of late while Bournemouth are on their longest unbeaten run in their entire Premier League history. Despite the injuries that they have, they have been able to grind out results and have shown that they are defensively strong.
With all of this in mind, our team of professional experts have decided that the best tip for this game is for Bournemouth to Win. Odds of 15/4 on QuinnBet means that a £10 bet could see a potential return of £47.50.
(odds subject to change)
Chelsea 1-2 Bournemouth
