Manchester City have been the best team in English football over the last four years. They haven’t made too many signings, but are looking to retain star man Kevin De Bruyne for the new season, and still have the best squad depth in the league.
They come into this season off the back of their Community Shield win over local rivals Manchester United, in good spirits.
Chelsea did finish the end of last season well, but are now under a new manager, with just as much of a hectic squad as they have had for the last three seasons. Defeating Manchester City on the opening day even though they’re at home, will be an extremely tough challenge.
However, Chelsea do have a strong scoring record against Manchester City. They converted in both of their Premier League games against Pep Guardiola’s side last season, including an emphatic 4-4 draw at Stamford Bridge. They’re also fresh off of a 4-2 pre-season loss to Man City, in which they scored twice.
We’re backing Manchester City to win this match, and for both teams to score. Through our bookmakers, you can get odds of 19/10 through Ladbrokes.
