Birmingham City League One Predictions

We’ve made it clear here at Football Park, and so have most English football fans, that we’re confident Birmingham City will thrive in League One this season.

The Blues have had a ridiculous transfer window so far, especially given their stature as a League One club, and have actually outspent most clubs in the division above. Some notable arrivals are: Thor, Klarer, Alfie May and Luke Harris on loan from Fulham.

Of those names, all of which on paper should be looking for Championship clubs, I think Alfie May will have the most impact in Birmingham’s title chances. May is an established League One bagsman, and has already been on fire in pre-season for the Blues.

The current League One points record sits with Wolverhampton Wanderers, who amassed 103 points in the division back in 2014. Given the established drop in quality between the second and third tiers of English football, it’s safe to assume that a squad who have proved they can be competitive in the Championship will come close to that record.

Whilst I do have an inkling they’ll overcome Wolves’ record, I think the best value tip when accounting a risk to reward ratio would be for Birmingham to gain 100 or more points in the division.
