It is back-to-back home games for Exeter City as they play host to Leyton Orient in round 28 of the English League One. Being defeated at home in their last game to Blackpool, Exeter City remain eleven points clear of the relegation zone. That home loss has seen the Grecians go six games without a win in the league. After a midtable finish last year, Leyton Orient have continued to establish themselves as a strong mid-table team. Currently sat in seventh place, they find themselves one place and one point behind a spot into the playoffs.
Finishing mid-table last season, Exeter have not enjoyed their League One campaign so far. Dropping down to 17th place, they are still far enough away from the relegation zone to not need to worry just yet. With their last win coming in the FA Cup against Championship side Oxford United, Exeter City have only acquired three wins from their last ten matches. Although consolation in their last game, forward Millenic Alli has now scored in back to back games for the Grecians.
In complete contrast, Leyton Orient have been on a run of terrific form as they edge ever so closer to a playoff spot. With sixth place Barnsley unsuccessful in their last two matches, Orient are provided with the opportunity to leapfrog over them and into sixth place. The O’s were successful in their last game, being victorious and climbing above Reading in the table. With that win under their belt, Leyton Orient are now unbeaten in their last ten league games, collecting a whopping eights wins over this period.
Formation: 3-4-2-1
Predicted Line-Up: Whitworth; Francis, Diabate, Fitzwater; Yogane, Colwill, Richards, Jones; Mitchell; Magennis, Alli
19 year old midfielder Tony Yogane was recently acquired on loan from Brentford for the remainder of the season and will be hoping this game can be where he stars. Being subbed on against the Seasiders, Yogane has only made two appearances this season, one with Brentford before arriving at Exeter. Forward Millenic Alli will be hoping for some aid from his other teammates as the Irish striker has now netted seven goals while his striker partner has only managed three.
Exeter have some serious work ahead of them if they want to ensure that the safe eleven point gap they have between the relegation zone stays a safe gap.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Predicted Line-Up: Keeley, Currie, Cooper, Beckles, Galbraith; Brown, Pratley; Obiero, Donley, Markanday; Kelman
After being crowned the League Two Champions, Richie Wellens and his side have held their own well in League One. Bettering last season’s result by a country mile, Leyton Orient find themselves against an underperforming side in a game that would allow them to climb up into the playoff spots.
It was an impressive home debut for midfielder Dilan Markanday as he was selected to start for a second league game running and scoring his first goal for the club in front of the home crowd. Richie Wellens expressed his need for a ‘pacey wide player’ and Markanday has displayed excellence so far.
Exeter City were the winners of the reverse fixture earlier on in the season, however Leyton Orient have been increasing their quality and since then have become a formidable side while Exeter have dropped. The last time the two teams faced off at St James Park, it was Leyton Orient who were the winners.
Gary Caldwell may need to start worrying about his job as it has been another lacklustre season for Exeter City. Although victorious once already this season, The O’s have displayed a higher quality and have shown a more impressive style in their recent games.
For this reason, our betting experts say Leyton Orient to Win is the best value tip for this game. With odds at 13/10, a bet of £10 could see a potential return of up to £23
(odds subject to change)
