Celtic ended last season in emphatic style. They won all five of their final five games in the second phase of the season, securing their 54th league title in their history and picking up the Scottish FA Cup on the way. The Scottish giants pulled through once again, and we think they’ll be starting the season in similar fashion.
As the home side this Sunday, Celtic haven’t lost at Celtic Park since they played Hearts at the end of 2023. They’re subsequently unbeaten at home in 2024. To add to this, they’ve won eight games in a row at home. In their 23 home fixtures, they’ve only lost twice. Incredible.
With their quality, we’re also predicting them to win each half to open the season against Kilmarnock. With strong new signings in Kasper Schmeichel, Paulo Bernardo and Viljami Sinisalo, and the fact that they already possess a very strong side, Celtic should walk the tie on Sunday.
We’re also expecting over 2.5 goals scored by both teams combined. This is a trend that’s followed in seven of their last eight home games for Celtic. For Kilmarnock, this has occurred in three of their last four away fixtures.
Kilmarnock did well to finish 4th last season. But they won’t be able to handle a fresh Celtic side on Sunday.
We’re backing Celtic to win each half in this game, whilst also for there to be over 2.5 goals scored by both teams combined. Through our bookmakers, you can get odds of 27/20, with a £10 stake returning £23.50.
