We’ve found a 3.36/1 play-off ACCA for the 2024/25 season. One team has been selected each from the English Championship, League One and League Two.
Despite a sensational 90 point season, Leeds United were pipped to the last promotion spot by Southampton in the play-off final last season. A goal from Adam Armstrong made sure that Leeds will spend another season away from the English top-flight. However, this year they’ll be back once again, fighting to get back to where they belong.
The last time they made the play-offs and didn’t get promoted, was back in 2019, when they finished 3rd with 83 points. The season after that they won the title, with 93 points, which went on to keep them in the top-flight for the next three seasons.
Their manager, Daniel Farke, is one of the most experienced in the second-tier when it comes to promotion, having won the division twice with former club Norwich City. A place in the top 6 for Leeds, should be very comfortable.
When it comes to transfers, they’ve permanently signed Joe Rodon who was a rock at the back for them on loan from Spurs last season. They’ve also secured another experienced EFL player in Joe Rothwell on loan from Bournemouth.
Birmingham City are off the back of a humiliating season in the Championship. To start they were pushing for the play-offs under John Eustace. Before sacking him for Wayne Rooney, sacking him for a roundabout of gaffers before being relegated entirely.
However, Birmingham City are not a League One side. They’d been playing in the second-tier for the last 13 seasons. They’ve not been in the 3rd tier since 1995 and will be desperate to mount a push straight back up from League One this season.
Their new manager, Chris Davies, is an experienced winner. As a coach, he has an FA Cup, two Scottish League Titles, Two Scottish Cups and Three Scottish League Cups to his name. Whilst this is his first managerial position, he should know how to get the best out of his new side.
They’ve also made some strong signings, including striker Alfie May from Charlton Athletic. May scored 23 goals in League One last time out, finishing as the division's top scorer. Alongside him is new defender Christoph Klarer, who made 30 appearances in the Bundesliga last season for SV Darmstadt.
Our final prediction for making the play-offs is League Two’s MK Dons.
MK Dons made the play-off’s of League Two last season after their relegation from League One the season before-hand. They got demolished in the semi-finals against Crawley Town though, with it ending 8-1 to the Reds on aggregate.
Nonetheless, Mk Dons are a side that are very capable of finishing in the Top 7 of League Two. In the last 20 seasons, they’ve only been in the fourth tier on four occasions. Whenever they’ve been in League Two, it’s taken them a maximum of two seasons to get promoted back into League One.
The Dons have also secured some very strong signings going in to this season. Liam Kelly for starters, was sensational for Crawley Town in their promotion last season. Lawrence Maguire, was also a rock at the back for Crawley, who has been signed on a free from Chesterfield. Connor Lemonheigh has also been signed on a free transfer, who helped secure the League Two league title in 2023/24. The Dons have signed multiple top class players, and they should reap the rewards from it.
We’re backing Leeds United, Birmingham City and MK Dons all to make the play-offs in the 2024/25 season. Through our bookmakers, before the season has started, you can get odds of 3.36/1 on Parimatch. A £10 stake in this bet could return a comfortable £43.60.
