Sheffield United conceded the most goals any Premier League side has ever conceded in a single season in the last campaign. A dreadful statistic that they’ll want to overshadow for the new season. And so far, they’re doing just that.
QPR however did not start the season well. They welcomed West Brom to Loftus Road and got battered 3-1, thanks to a hat-trick from Josh Maja. Yes they did win in the League Cup against League One’s Cambridge United in mid-week, but against a top-tier Championship side they’re yet to deliver. And based off the last few seasons, Sheffield United are certainly a top-tier 2nd-tier side.
Sheffield United are also looking like strong goal scorers right now. They’ve scored over 1.5 goals in both of their first two games and followed that trend in four of their five pre-season games.
To make matters worse for Saturday’s visitors, when Sheffield United were last in the Championship, they had second-best home form (winning 16 of their 23 games). Only one side (Burnley) conceded less goals at home than them in that 2022/23 campaign. Last season, QPR also had the 18th worst away form, with a -4 goal difference whilst on the road.
We’re backing Sheffield United to win this game, and for there to be over 1.5 goals scored by both teams in the match. Through our bookmakers, you can get odds of 23/20 for this tip. A £10 stake on this would return £21.50.
