High flying Fleetwood will look to consolidate their top six position this weekend when they take on an out-of-form Bromley side at their home ground the Highbury Stadium on Saturday.
Relegated from League one last season, Fleetwood are looking to regain that status and will be looking to jump up a division at the earliest opportunity. Meanwhile Bromley, having entered the football league this season after promotion from the National League, will be desperate to maintain that status as long as possible.
With the high stakes game approaching fast, here is everything you need to know ahead of kick off.
Fleetwood Town Predicted Lineup (3-1-4-2): David Harrington (GK); Kayden Hughes, James Bolton ,Rhys Bennett; Elliot Bonds; Mackenzie Hunt, Matthew Virtue-Thick, Danny Mayor, Carl Johnston; Ryan Graydon, Ronan Coughlan.
Fleetwood’s campaign has gone as many would have expected it to. The general rule for a side relegated from the division above is that they are automatic promotion challengers the following season.
While that has not been true for the fellow fallen comrades Cheltenham Town and Carlisle United, Cheltenham have started with the form of potential promotion candidates.
With striker Ronan Coughlan in good form with four goals this campaign, and with six assists between their designated front two, Fleetwood are a threat to any team in the league, and they simply need to hurdle the obstacle of inconsistent form to have a successful season.
Bromley Predicted Lineup (3-4-3): Grant Smith (GK); Kamarl Grant, Callum Reynolds, Omar Sowunmi; Idris Odutayo, Ashley Charles, Ben Thompson, Daniel Imray; Corey Whitely, Michael Cheek, Olufela Olomola.
Bromley, as the vast majority of League Two followers suspected, have struggled in the early season. Despite the jump between the National League and League Two being just a single division, the hike in quality is enormous, and Bromley have so far found this out the hard way.
They have not won a league game since their mid-August victory against Wimbledon, and have picked up just three points since. There are only two silver linings for them at the present time.
The first is that they are currently in 19th, outside the relegation places, and the second is that forward Michael Cheek is in superb form, with six goals so far this campaign, topping the leaderboard. As long as he maintains that goalscoring form, Brmley will always have a shout of staying up.
Fleetwood and Bromley have faced each other just once before, in the first round of the 2012 FA Cup. On that occasion, Fleetwood strolled to a 3-0 victory thanks to a penalty from David Ball and a brace from Jonathan Parkin.
This game seems only too easy to predict. Given the contrasting form between the two, it looks like Bromley will only stand a chance if Michael Cheek somehow outdoes his early season form.
We predict a straightforward Fleetwood Town victory.
**Fleetwood 3-1 Bromley **
Bromley could well grab a goal thanks to their in form striker, but Fleetwood’s fire power will be too much for their defense, and a defeat will see them drop ever closer to those dreaded relegation spots.
