The EFL League Two season continues on Monday 23rd September 2024 with a bottom half of the table clash that is sure to get people excited.
Fleetwood Town take on Morecambe at Highbury Stadium in Fleetwood.
Neither of these teams have been standout performers coming into this game. In fact both teams have struggled to make an impact on the league at all.
This could be a chance though to pick up a valuable three points and start to turn around their seasons. A big possibility to push on in the league even this early. This match could be the difference between survival, pushing for playoffs and relegation.
Predicted Lineups - David Harrington, Harrison Holgate, Brendan Wiredu, Rhys Bennett, Mackenzie Hunt, Danny Mayor, Mark Helm, Matty Virtue, Carl Johnston, Ronan Coughlan, Ryan Graydon
Fleetwood’s start to the season has been a mixed bag. Currently they sit 12th in the league having picked up eight points from the opening five games. However they will be hopeful that they can push on in this game in particular.
Despite scoring just six goals thus far one of their main creators in the league has been Mackenzie Hunt and if anyone is to impact this game we would anticipate it will be him. Three of the goals the team has scored so far this year have been assisted by Hunt. In fact he is joint second for most assists in the league so far this season.
Predicted Lineup - Stuart Moore, Adam Lewis, Jamie Stott, Rhys Williams, Ross Millen, Paul Lewis, Callum Jones, Yann Songo’o, Ben Tollitt, Harvey Macadam, Lee Angol
Morecambe have greatly struggled this season. So far they are yet to win a league game claiming just one point from the first six games. Not only this but they have scored just three goals this year - the lowest of any team in the division.
However they have shown signs that they may be turning it around in recent weeks. A late comeback against Colcehster in their last game saw them pick up their first point of the season as well as a victory against Wigan in the Football League Trophy shows good signs. They will just hope to push on now.
Callum Jones and Ben Tollitt picked up their first goals of the season in that game against Colcheister and will be hopeful they can continue that scoring in this game as well.
This is set to be the 12th competitive game between the two teams.
It is Fleetwood Town that hold the advantage having won on five occasions to Morecambe’s three wins. There have also been three draws in that time.
In fact, Fleetwood are unbeaten in the last three games against Morecambe winning once and drawing twice. The last game they played ending in a 1-0 victory for Fleetwood in February 2023. Will they continue their streak in this game?
25th February 2023 - Fleetwood Town 1-0 Morecambe - EFL League One
13th August 2022 - Morecambe 1-1 Fleetwood Town - EFL League One
18th December 2021 - Morecambe 0-0 Fleetwood Town - EFL League One
20th November 2021 - Fleetwood Town 1-2 Morecambe - EFL League One
3rd October 2017 - Fleetwood Town 2-1 Morecambe - Football League Trophy
This is bound to be an interesting game. Neither team has blown anyone away this season so don’t expect this to be an exciting contest filled with goals.
Despite this, Morecambe’s start to the season has been dreadful and although they are showing signs of turning it around we would expect Fleetwood to come away with all three points in this one.
That is why our team of professional tipping experts have selected Fleetwood Town To Win and Under 3.5 Match Goals in this game as our best value tip. With odds of 13/10, £10 has the potential to return up to £23.
(Odds subject to change)
Fleetwood Town 2-0 Morecambe
With Morecambe’s struggles this season we cannot see anything other than a Fleetwood Town win in this match. Morecambe’s issues continuing to have an effect on their season.
