The new year of Premier League fixtures gives us some exciting clashes, especially considering these teams’ recent results. Fulham and Ipswich are both in a good moment but will want to keep it going in 2025.
Fulham’s good run of results have mostly come in the shape of draws, but they have managed to beat Chelsea recently, something that Ipswich repeated in their last match. Fulham’s last loss came against Wolves back at the end of November. Since then they have two wins and five draws.
Ipswich’s form isn’t as good as Fulham’s but the win over Chelsea will give them some confidence, especially in the attack. They have scored just 18 goals this season, with just Southampton having scored less.
Fulham Predicted Lineup - Bernd Leno; Antonee Robinson, Calvin Bassey, Joachim Andersen, Timothy Castagne; Sasa Lukic, Tom Cairney; Alex Iwobi, Emile Smith-Rowe, Harry Wilson; Raul Jimenez
It’s hard to say who Fulham will go with because they have a couple of injuries and Marco Silva will want to rest some players after the congestion of the festive fixtures. Kenny Tete and Reiss Nelson are both definitely out and will be missing for some time alongside Harrison Reed and Sander Berg.
Harry Wilson has scored some important goals recently, so he could be given another start against Ipswich. He scored Fulham’s second goal in the 2-2 draw against Bournemouth before Dango Ouattara equalised late on for the visitors. Wilson spent a year on loan at the Cherries when they were relegated back in 2020.
Ipswich Town Predicted Lineup - Christian Walton; Leif Davis, Jacob Greaves, Luke Woolfenden, Dara O’Shea, Wes Burns; Nathan Broadhead, Jens Cajuste, Sam Morsy, Omari Hutchinson; Liam Delap
Ipswich have a mounting injury list, but they have spent over £100m in the summer, so they should have enough players to field a pretty strong XI against Fulham. They could even go with the same players who beat Chelsea last time out. Goal scorers Liam Delap and Omari Hutchinson didn’t pick up anything in the match that would rule them out for this game.
Liam Delap has seven goals in 18 Premier League games this season, but that ratio was much more impressive earlier in the season when he was banging in the goals. He did manage to find the net against Chelsea but before then there was a six game run where he turned up empty handed.
Before this season, the last time that these two sides met in the English top flight was back in 1963. Throughout history, Fulham have had the better of meetings between the two, but the most important result right now to Ipswich fans, was the one at the end of August.
31st Aug 2024 - Ipswich Town 1-1 Fulham - Premier League
Fulham might be unbeaten in the last seven, but that has included home draws against Bournemouth and Southampton, so I wouldn’t be surprised if this game ended similarly. Ipswich are in a good spot at the moment and building on that would give them a good springboard into 2025.
With all of this in mind, our team of professional experts have decided that the best tip for this game is for a Draw. Odds of 10/3 on Quinnbet means that a £10 bet could see a potential return of £43.33.
