Aldershot Town absolutely threw away their opening day fixture against Forest Green Rovers. They were two goals ahead within 11 minutes but ended up drawing the game 3-3 against one of the stronger sides in the league.
Halifax Town weren’t exceptional against Barnet, but they did come away with all three points with an ending scoreline of 2-1.
Halifax were also at home for their opening day victory, and are also against Aldershot Town this weekend. The support they’ll receive from their fans will be significantly larger than the fanbase of Aldershot, who’s fans will have to make the three hour round trip for this tie.
Aldershot had a sensational season last time out. But now, they’re without star players such as top scorer Lorent Tolaj, Josh Stokes and many more key players following the transfer window. They have made some strong signings, but it’ll take time for the squad to gel.
The Shots do play some great football under Tommy Widdrington, who has transformed the club since his appointment at the end of 2022/23. However, we think it will be a tough away trip for them on Saturday.
Halifax also boasts a strong home record in the National League at the moment. In their final 10 home matches of last season, they only lost twice and picked up some very strong results such as their 4-2 win over Chesterfield.
We’re backing Halifax Town to win this game. Through our bookmakers, you can get odds of 6/4 which would see a return of £25 from a stake of £10.
