Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League action sees Bayern Munich make the trip to face Inter Milan at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza or the San Siro as its alternatively known. This is a big match for the away side as they suffered a late defeat to see them down on the aggregate score and going out as things stand.
Over Inter Milan’s last five games they have won three and drawn twice, now extending their unbeaten run to a streak of 12 games across all competitions. Bayern Munich Milan on the other hand have achieved two wins, one loss and two draws, that loss coming from opponents Inter Milan in the first leg a week ago.
Formation: 3-5-2
Inter Milan Predicted Line-Up: Yann Sommer; Alessandro Bastoni, Yann Bisseck, Francesco Acerbi; Federico Dimarco, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Nicolò Barella, Hakan Çalhanoğlu, Matteo Darmian; Lautaro Martínez, Marcus Thuram
Inter Milan took the lead just before the end of the opening 45 minutes in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League Quarter Final clash with Bayern Munich thanks to captain Lautaro Martínez. Normally defensively strong, Inter conceded late in the second half, Bayern’s Thomas Müller got the better of a team that had only let in two goals before then. Dramatically three minutes later, Davide Frattesi retook the lead again, holding a 2-1 aggregate score going into this second leg.
I Nerazzurri enter the second leg unbeaten in their last 14 UEFA Champions League games at the at Giuseppe Meazza, which after beating Bayern last week and ending their 22-game run on their own patch, is now the longest ongoing run in the competition. Inter Milan have gone through to the next round in 21 of their previous 23 matches after winning the first leg. A studded defence and a lethal attack, Inter could book their place in the Semi Final this Wednesday with a good enough result.
Formation: 4-2-31
Bayern Munich Predicted Line-Up: Jonas Urbig; Josip Stanisic, Eric Dier, Kim Min-Jae, Konrad Laimer; Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka; Leroy Sané, Raphaël Guerreiro, Michael Olise; Harry Kane
On the flip side, Bayern Munich have only come out victorious in one of their last eight UEFA Champions League ties after losing the first leg. Coincidently, that win came against another Italian opponent in Lazio, facing them in last season’s Round of 16. The German outfit have been great against Inter Milan on the road in recent history, winning all four matches without letting in a goal.
Young star and prolific playmaker Jamal Musiala is still expected to be unavailable with a muscle tear which is likely to keep him sidelined for the rest of the season. He could have been a great difference maker to try and break down the sturdy Inter Milan defence but alas Bayern Munich will have to go to the old reliable in Harry Kane who has found the back of the net 34 times in 41 appearances across all competitions, 10 in 12 for the UEFA Champions League specifically.
The last three faceoffs within the last five years have been split in the favour of Bayern Munich with them doing the double over Inter Milan in 2022’s UEFA Champions League Group Stage but losing in the first leg of the Quarter Final last Tuesday. This Wednesday it looks like the pair of them will have a settled opening 45 minutes and then get into it more come the second half.

(odds subject to change)
Inter Milan 1-1 Bayern Munich
Inter Milan have been fantastic defensively this UEFA Champions League campaign and they should put on another great display this Wednesday. Bayern Munich are still a threat and with the added pressure of making it through, it looks like both teams could find the back of the net.
