Super Sunday gets started on the 29th September 2024, as Ipswich Town look to pick up their first three points of the season as they take on high flyers Aston Villa at Portman Road in the Premier League.
This game is set to be a match between two sides that couldn’t be at more different points at this stage of the season. Ipswich Town are yet to win a game whereas Villa are looking to push further on the top of the table at this early stage.
It will be interesting to see how this game goes.
Ipswich Town Predicted Lineup - Arijanet Muric; Axel Tuanzebe, Dara O’Shea, Jacob Greaves, Leif Davis; Sam Morsy, Jens Cajuste; Chiedozie Ogbene, Omari Hutchinson, Sammie Szmodics; Liam Delap
This hasn’t been the dream start to life in the Premier League for Ipswich Town. They currently sit 17th in the table on three points having not picked up a victory, drawn three games and lost two.
There are certainly positives to take though with the only two losses of the season being at the hands of the top two Manchester City and Liverpool. Draws against both Fulham and Brighton are also good results. However they would have hoped for more against Southampton in the last match.
Manager Kieran McKenna will be hopeful that this game can be where they finally pick up a win.
Aston Villa Predicted Lineup - Emiliano Martinez; Lamare Bogarde, Ezri Kona, Pau Torres, Lucas Digne; Amadou Onana, Youri Tielemans; Leon Bailey, Morgan Rogers, Jacob Ramsey; Ollie Watkins
This season Unai Emery’s Aston Villa have picked off just where they left off. They are currently sat 3rd in the league on twelve points - this just one point off of Man City at the top of the table.
Impressively, the big worry for them was that they couldn’t handle UEFA Champions League football at the same time and yet have looked just as strong following their opening victory against Young Boys. However a big test against Bayern Munich awaits them.
One man they can thank for such a successful start of the season is youngster Jhon Duran. Of the ten goals Villa have scored in the league this season he has four. Not only this but in all competitions he has registered five goals. Most of which have been from off the bench. Will he have an impact on this game?
Ipswich and Aston Villa have faced one another on 61 occasions already in their histories.
Unsurprisingly it is Aston Villa who hold the advantage however it is surprisingly close. Villa have won 26 of the games while Ipswich have 20 wins. There have also been 15 draws in that time.
Not only this but Aston Villa have also gone unbeaten in each of the last four games against Ipswich. This dates back as far as 2017. This is something they will look to continue further in this match.
26th January 2019 - Aston Villa 2-1 Ipswich Town - EFL Championship
18th August 2018 - Ipswich Town 1-1 Aston Villa - EFL Championship
21st April 2018 - Ipswich Town 0-4 Aston Villa - EFL Championship
25th November 2017 - Aston Villa 2-0 Ipswich Town - EFL Championship
11th February 2017 - Aston Villa 0-1 Ipswich Town - EFL Championship
This game is bound to be an interesting watch however we feel as though it is clear what the result will be. Aston Villa will surely be too much for Ipswich to handle.
Villa have a much stronger squad and often take control of games. And although Ipswich like to hold possession against the bigger teams in the division they have struggled to do that. This should be much of the same story.
It won’t be easy for Villa but they should win this game.
That is why our team of professional tipping experts are backing odds of 19/20 for an Aston Villa Win. These odds mean that £10 has the potential to return up to £19.50 making it our best value pick.
(Odds subject to change)
Ipswich Town 1-3 Aston Villa
Aston Villa’s strength should be too much for Ipswich to handle though they won’t make it easy for the away side at their home ground.
