It may well be the international break, but that doesn’t mean we’re giving up on our expert tips, instead we’re bringing you the best tips and predictions for the Nations League.
We’re taking a look at Sunday’s fixture, where Stanislav Cherchesov’s Kazakhstan take on Matjas Kek’s Slovenia.
Both team sit on the bottom of Group B3 in the Nations League, separated only by the three points Slovenia won last time over Kazakhstan.
Slovenia will be looking to boost their way into the top two, while Kazakhstan are looking to get one over on their opponents.
Kazakhstan Predicted Line-up - Igor Shatskiy; Sultanbek Astanov, Nuraly Alip, Alibek Kasym, Yan Vorogovskiy; Bakhtiyar Zaynutdinov, Askhat Tagybergen, Islam Chesnokov, Maksim Samorodov; Abat Aymbetov, Bauyrzhan Islamkhan
Kazakhstan, expectedly, are out of the running for top two in group B3, but all credit to them for some of their performances so far.
They picked up an impressive 0-0 draw with Norway, which proved they can perform as a solid defensive unit when need be. This was a far cry from their abysmal defeat against their upcoming opponents Slovenia.
Shatskiy will be vital in goal if they’re to somehow pull off a result.
Slovenia Predicted Line-up - Jan Oblak; Erik Janza, Vanja Drkusic, Jaka Bijol, Jure Balkovec; Petar Stojanovic, Adam Cerin, Timi Max Elsnik, Jan Mlakar; Benjamin Sesko, Andraz Sporar
A win for the away side could realistically see them shoot into the top two of the group, which would be very good for them.
They were seriously impressive in their 3-0 win over Kazakhstan, and seriously disappointing in their 3-0 defeat to Norway.
Should Sesko perform to the standards we know he’s capable of, they’ll have no issues here.
The two teams have met three times since 2023. Of these fixtures, Slovenia have won all three. Dominance.
9th September 2024 - Slovenia 3-0 Kazakhstan - Nations League
20th November 2023 - Slovenia 2-1 Kazakhstan - Euro Qualifiers
23rd March 2023 - Kazakhstan 1-2 Slovenia - Euro Qualifiers
Given how dominant Slovenia have been over Kazakhstan, as well as comparing the two squads in terms of quality, it’s clear that Slovenia are the favourites to win here.
Despite the massive gap in quality, the bookies are still offering pretty decent odds for this result, so it’s a massive opportunity to take advantage of that.
We think overall the best value tip is Slovenia, backed up by our research.
Odds of 8/11 on Ladbrokes mean that a £10 bet has the potential to return up to £17.30 in this match.
(odds subject to change)
Kazakhstan 0-2 Slovenia
Slovenia won’t break a sweat, as they look to apply pressure to both Norway and Austria above them in the group.
Elsewhere in the Nations League, Finland take on England.
