Hellas Verona will make their way over to Rome, more specifically the Stadio Olimpico, as they take on Lazio in what is round four of the Serie A.
Kicking off the season with a 3-1 win against newly promoted side Venezia on opening weekend, Lazio haven’t been able to replicate that across the last two games. A 2-1 loss versus Udinese was the aftermath of their second game and in their most recent they let a lead slip with 20 minutes to go. AC Milan capitalised and come the final whistle, a 2-2 draw the end result.
Le Aquile have had a busy summer transfer window with comings and goings and some of their absences could be a reason for their last two games. Luis Alberto finally left the club after seeming like he would earn a top move away for years. Veteran Serie A striker Cirro Immobile joined Turkish side Besiktas and other key players like Daichi Kamada and Felipe Anderson left as free transfers to Crystal Palace and Palmeiras respectively.
Lazio did do some purchasing off their own and they secured the permanent services of former Arsenal midfielder Mattéo Guendouzi after he spent last season at the club. More players coming from the North London club and Nuno Tavares was picked up on a loan spell and he seems like he’s settling in well, recording two assists in those first three games, putting him as the top assister in the Serie A at this point in time.
Last year Hellas Verona managed a 13th place finish in the league. That might be a good result on first glance but if you break it down and they should have done much better. Ending the campaign with 38 points, 11 losses and most shockingly, only 9 wins and as a result of that, a whopping 18 draws. This season’s ambitions will have to be much better, and it seems to be working as after three games they sit in fifth place.
A 3-0 opening weekend win against big Italian side Napoli jumpstarted their good run before it was temporarily halted the next week. Coming up against Juventus and it was the opposite of the previous game, losing 0-3 away from home. Their most recent game however and Hellas Veron were victorious in a 0-2 match versus Genoa.
History shows that La Gialloblu struggle against Lazio. In the last five meetings, Hellas Verona have failed to pick up all three points, two losses and three draws. They will try to end that streak, but Lazio will field a strong squad in an effort to stop them.
Our betting experts have gone with Lazio To Win. Lazio were very close to beating AC Milan last week but it was the side with more quality that managed to secure an equaliser. Hellas Verona are not at the same level so by that logic, it should be an easy victory for Lazio.
