Both Livingston and Partick Thistle are eyeing promotion to the Scottish Premiership this season and they face off on Friday having both picked up seven points from their last three games.
Livingston are on a long unbeaten run that was extended at the weekend with a 0-0 draw with second bottom side Greenock Morton. This was a disappointing result considering that they had just beaten Falkirk, who are first, a week before.
Partick Thistle’s unbeaten run in the league is even longer than Livingston’s, having not tasted a league defeat since they were beaten 1-0 by Hamilton in September. They have however recently been knocked out of the Scottish Cup by Queen’s Park.
Livingston Predicted Lineup - Jerome Prior; Matthew Clarke, Ryan McGowen, Michael Nottingham, Daniel Finlayson; Reece McAlear, Jamie Brandon, Scott Pittman; Tete Yengi, Stevie May, Robbie Muirhead
Livingston need to find a little bit more consistency in front of goal if they want to be promoted this season as they have a tendency to draw games that they really should win. Greenock Morton was just the latest slip up of many slip ups in this campaign. The only thing keeping them this high up the table is their defensive solidity.
Robbie Muirhead has probably been the best attacker for Livingston, contributing to four goals from the wing. Livingston often rely on substitutes to make an impact, but Muirhead has shown that he can take games by the scruff of the neck when starting.
Partick Thistle Predicted Lineup - Myles Roberts; Harry Milne, Daniel O’Reilly, Lee Ashcroft, Kyle Turner; Stuart Bannigan, Luke McBeth; Aidan Fitzpatrick, Robbie Crawford, Logan Chalmers; Scott Robinson
Like Livingston, Partick Thistle have been excellent defensively this season. They have the joint best defensive record in the league alongside league leaders Falkirk with just nine goals conceded in their 15 games.
A lot of their players have joined recently, yet somehow the cohesion they have in defence is incredible. Their best player this season has been Scott Robinson, who has been filling in at centre-forward despite spending most of his career at number 10. He played for Livingston between 2017 and 2021, so there could be some bad blood there.
Due to the size of the Scottish Leagues, Livingston and Partick Thistle have already played once this season, in a game that ended 0-0. The two sides haven’t met much in recent history, but Livingston have the better results as of late, having not lost this fixture since 2013.
5th Oct 2024 - Partick Thistle 0-0 Livingston - Scottish Championship
10th Feb 2024 - Partick Thistle 2-3 Livingston - Scottish Cup
20th May 2018 - Partick Thistle 0-1 Livingston - Scottish Premiership
17th May 2018 - Livingston 2-1 Partick Thistle - Scottish Premiership
15th Jul 2017 - Livingston 1-1 Partick Thistle (3-1P) - Scottish League Cup
Both sides are defensively strong so this could be a very low scoring game. They will want to keep things tight and not take too many risks so it could be decided by a single goal. Livingston are a slightly better side overall, especially in transition, so they might edge the attacking side, but defensively Partick have a slightly better record.
With all of this in mind, our team of professional experts have decided that the best tip for this game is for a Draw. Odds of 11/5 on Coral means that a £10 bet could see a potential return of £32.
