Manchester United welcome Bournemouth to Old Trafford for another fantastic Premier League weekend. Both teams have a lot to play for going into this game, with Manchester United searching for answers and Bournemouth looking to make history.
This United team has been all over the place for the last couple of years, but after going into the Etihad and defeating the powerhouse of Manchester City, they will be looking to capitalise on this win and set up some run of form to get them out of such a low spot in the league. While Bournemouth can use this game to gain ground on those above them and continue their push for European football.
Since the appointment of Ruben Amorim, Manchester United have won four out of the seven games he has spent in charge but picking up a draw against recently promoted Ipswich and a loss at home to Nottingham Forrest, the Red Devils are still on the hunt to establish consistency in their form. Meanwhile, Bournemouth have been enjoying a stellar season under Andoni Iraola, taking the Cherries to sixth position in the league and only two points away from a spot in the Europa League. Illia Zarbarnyi has not missed a single minute the so far and has been crucial at the back for Bournemouth since signing in 2023.
Formation: 3-4-2-1
Predicted Line-Up: Andre Onana; Lisandro Martinez, Matthijs De Ligt, Leny Yoro; Diogo Dalot, Manuel Ugarte, Kobbie Mainoo, Noussair Mazraoui; Bruno Fernandes, Amad Diallo; Rasmus Hojlund
A controversial loss to Tottenham Hottspur on Thursday saw Manchester United’s Carabao Cup run crash and burn. A well fought game that came down to the wire and although they did not come away with the win and were fortunate with the goals they scored; they played a good brand of football and showed great signs of improvement.
After coming off against Manchester City in the opening 20 minutes through injury, Manchester United have confirmed that Mason Mount will be out of the squad for a few weeks. This could provide Amorim to use his favourite 3-4-2-1 with Bruno Fernandes in more of an attacking role as opposed to midfield. Game after game, Ivorian winger Amad Diallo is proving what a phenomenal player he is and the phenomenal player that Amorim is bringing out of him. Charting six assists and two goals for the club so far, he is highly likely to have a massive impact on this game.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Predicted Line-Up: Kepa Arrizabalaga; Milos Kerkez, Dean Huijsen, Illia Zabarnyi, Max Aarons; Lewis Cook, Ryan Christie; Antoine Semenyo, Justin Kluivert, Marcus Tavernier; Enes Unal
It has been a spectacular season so far for the Cherries, with seven wins from 16 games and now comfortably placing themselves in sixth position in the league, this game provides them wonderful opportunity to attack the top teams and get into a brawl for potentially a Champions League spot.
Since moving into a more central role this season for the club, Dutchman Justin Kluivert has been on fire, top scorer for the club in the Premier League with five goals and has been a dangerous attacking threat in every game this season. Iraola could give the nod to striker Enes Unal to start up top for the Cherries, scoring a last-minute free kick to salvage them a point in their last game. the Turkish striker has now scored in back-to-back games off the bench, and with Bournemouth being one of the lower teams in the league for shot conversion, maybe Unal is what they are missing.
This will be the 15th meeting between the two sides and the last time they faced off at Old Trafford, Bournemouth came away with a comfortable 3-0 victory. Since 2020, Manchester United have scored against Bournemouth 11 times and have been in 3 out of the 5 previous results.
Bournemouth are looking good ad looking strong, but they have only ever won at Old Trafford once before in this fixture and while their defence is still struggling, their attack is dominating.
For that reason, our betting experts say Manchester United to win with over 2.5 goals is the best value tip for this game.
Odds of 23/10 will mean a bet of £10 could potentially see a return of up to £33
Manchester United 3-1 Bournemouth
Manchester United are looking hot, and with Amad Diallo in the form he is in, we think this one is going to be a high scoring game for the home side. The Bournemouth squad are playing unbelievable at the minute, but will they be ale to handle the pressure of Old Trafford.
