Arne Slot has had a good start to life at Liverpool. So far he’s won both of his opening Premier League games, firstly away to Ipswich Town and then at home to Brentford. Facing Manchester United away is a whole other test, but we’re backing Liverpool to take three points from this match. Here’s why…
Firstly, Manchester United have made a few signings this summer, which are good players, but so far it's been obvious to us that things aren’t quite clicking at the back. Away to Brighton & Hove Albion last time out, they lost 2-1, with Ten Hag replacing Harry Maguire with De Ligt with just 10 minutes to go. The back line that we predict to start on Sunday, Dalot, Martinez, De Ligt and Mazraoui haven’t played too often together in Manchester.
Meanwhile, the Liverpool side is full of players that have played together for multiple seasons. There also hasn’t been much tactical difference between Slot and Klopp, alongside very few departures and singing over the summer. This is a Liverpool side that have dominated the English top-flight for years, they know exactly what they’re doing.
The home side do have some quality attacking players in Bruno Fernandes, Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo. We do think they’ll be able to find a goal in this game, but the attack of Salah, Jota, Nunez, Diaz and others, are far more experienced.
We’re backing Liverpool to win this game, and for both teams to score. Through our bookmakers, you can get odds of 15/8 which would secure a return of £28.75 from a £10 stake.
