After a disastrous effort against Brighton in their last match, Manchester United will be hoping they can bounce back to form for their Europa League clash with Rangers. Undefeated in the competition so far, Amorim will be hoping his side can continue to show the quality they have displayed on the European stage. Rangers sit just one point behind the Red Devils after a loss in game week two of the competition. Without a loss in their last seven matches, Rangers will be hoping United are just another stepping stone on their way to glory.
Manchester United were clearly teasing fans after two brilliant performances against Liverpool and Arsenal, as they were pummelled by Brighton & Hove Albion in their last game. However, the Europa League has been their stomping ground this season, collecting three wins from their last three games, the Red Devils have yet to taste defeat in this competition.
Rangers have enjoyed similar success in their Europa League campaign. With only one loss in the tournament, they sit eighth in the table and only one point behind their opponents for this game. They have been racking up points in the league as well, currently sitting second and handing top of the table Celtic their only loss of the season.
Formation: 3-4-2-1
Predicted Line-Up: Bayındır; Martinez, Maguire, De Ligt; Dalot, Collyer, Ugarte, Mazraoui; Fernandes, Diallo; Hojlund
Manchester United were unable to show any signs of fights after welcoming Brighton to Old Trafford, which saw the Seagulls destroy United and travel home with a 3-1 victory. One replacement Ruben Amorim may consider bringing in is goalkeeper Altay Bayındır after a continuous amount of disastrous mistakes made by first choice keeper Andre Onana. The Turkish goalkeeper has only made three appearances for the Manchester side and after a stunning performance against Arsenal in the FA Cup last week, Bayındır may be given the nod for this game.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Predicted Line-Up: Kelly; Jefte, Pröpper, Balogun, Tavernier; Raskin, Barron; McCausland, Bajrami, Cerny; Igamane
Philippe Clement’s side have displayed excellent quality across all competitions this season. However, Rangers have struggled with getting results away from home, only managing three wins from a possible eleven games in the Scottish Championship. The midfield options going into this game for Rangers are few, with Iains Hagi, Danilo and Rabbi Matondo all not registered for the Europa League and Mohamed Diomande is unavailable through suspension. Defensive midfielder Nicolas Raskin has been controlling games for his side in their Europa League campaign as the Belgian has won possession more than any other player in the competition.
Manchester United are yet to be defeated by Rangers across five games played between the two sides throughout history. The most recent battle between the two sides came in a preseason friendly in July 2024, with Amad Diallo and Joe Hugill scoring in a 2-0 for United.
Although Manchester United are out of form in the Premier league, they have shown their quality in the Europa League. Rangers have displayed errors in their games away from home and it will be difficult for them to cope with the pressure of performing at Old Trafford.
For this reason, our betting experts suggest Manchester United to Win is the best value tip for this game. With odds coming in at 4/9, a bet of £10 could see a potential return of up to £14.40
