Leeds United look like they are in a good spot to get promoted this season however as we know, the Championship can be unpredictable at times. They travel to London to face Millwall this week who have been in excellent form which has seen them shoot up the table into the playoff places.
Millwall started the season poorly, but have turned it around with a five game unbeaten run. In that time they managed to beat promotion favourites Burnley and get a draw away at West Brom.
Leeds’ last defeat came in September when Burnley visited Elland Road and walked away with a 1-0 win. Since then, Leeds have only conceded four goals. That record is impressive considering that they have played Sunderland, Watford, Norwich and Sheffield United in that time.
Millwall Predicted Lineup - Lukas Jensen; Joe Bryan, Jake Cooper, Japhet Tanganga, Ryan Leonard; George Saville, Casper De Norre; Romain Esse, George Honeyman, Femi Azeez; Duncan Watmore
There shouldn’t be too many changes from the side that beat Burnley at the weekend, but Duncan Watmore could return to the starting XI ahead of Macaulay Langstaff. Langstaff has scored just once in the league this season while Watmore has five goals to his name.
Other than Watmore, Millwall have 19-year-old winger Romain Esse who could provide a threat in their attack. The youngster is the club’s second top goalscorer with three in the league.
Leeds United Predicted Lineup - Illan Meslier; Junior Firpo, Pascal Struijk, Joe Rodon, Sam Byram; Joe Rothwell, Ao Tanaka; Wilfred Gnonto, Brenden Aaronson, Dan James; Joel Piroe
Leeds United may have found the solution to their midfield injury crisis. At the start of the season, Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev were their starting defensive midfielders, but they are now both out with long term injuries. Ao Tanaka and Joe Rothwell have played well in that position since then, but Joshua Guilavogui has recently signed a contract with the club and so he could begin to replace Rothwell.
In their attack, Joel Piroe has been their best player with five league goals this season. His form has pushed Mateo Joseph, who started the season as the number nine, onto the bench.
These two clubs, despite being 170 miles apart, are fierce rivals. The rival stemmed from fan unrest in the 2000s when the clubs met in League One. Both sides are known for their passionate fanbase and links to football hooliganism and so encounters between them are always feisty. In history, the sides have been quite evenly matched but recently Leeds have just about edged it.
17th Mar 2024 - Leeds United 2-0 Millwall - Championship
17th Sep 2023 - Millwall 0-3 Leeds United - Championship
28th Jan 2020 - Leeds United 3-2 Millwall - Championship
5th Oct 2019 - Millwall 2-1 Leeds United - Championship
30th Mar 2019 - Leeds United 3-2 Millwall - Championship
Both sides have been in good form recently, but Leeds have had the harder fixture list and still managed to come out of it unbeaten. The game could be quite tight and there are likely to be quite a few talking points considering the history between the two clubs. I think that Leeds look like one of the favourites to get promoted this season and that means that they’ll look at this game as a must win.
With all of this in mind, our team of professional experts have decided that the best tip for this game is for Leeds United to Win + Over 1.5 Goals. Odds of 7/4 on Highbet means that a £10 bet could see a potential return of £27.50.
(odds subject to change)

Both Manchester City and Liverpool are in action in the Champions League this week following their mixed results against south coast clubs at the weekend.
