We’re taking a look at an exciting clash in League Two, the league’s been blown wide open so far this season, so we’ve really had to do our research here.
Nelson Jardim’s Newport County host Charlie Adam’s Fleetwood Town.
Both teams have had very similar starts to the season, reflected by the fact that they are 13th and 14th in the table respectively.
The difference that stand out, is that Newport are yet to draw a game this season, and usually one side wins their games dominantly.
Newport County Predicted Line-up - Nick Townsend; Cameron Evans, Kyle Jameson, Ciaran Brennan, Matthew Baker; Bryn Morris, Jamie Miley; Anthony Driscoll-Glennon, Aaron Wildig, Bobby Kamwa; Kyle Hudlin
Newport County will be relatively happy with their start to the season, given that they’re just three points off the play-off spots.
Weirdly however, they’ve struggled more at home than they have on the road this season, a trend they’ll be wanting to set straight.
Captain Aaron Wildig will be key, he’s already scored four goals this season.
Fleetwood Town Predicted Line-up - David Harrington; Mackenzie Hunt, Finley Potter, Brendan Sarpong-Wiredul; Phoenix Patterson, Danny Mayor, Matthew Virtue-Thick, Mark Helm, Carl Johnston; Ryan Graydon, Ronan Coughlan
Very simarlily, Fleetwood will be happy with their start to the season, they’re far clear of relegation threat and still in with an outside shout of pushing on for play-offs.
They’ve done really well away from home this season, a trend they’ll be hoping continues against Newport County.
Ronan Coughlan will be looking to add another goal to his tally this season.
These two sides have faced each other six times since 2010. Of these games, Newport have won just one, while Fleetwood have won three.
Two matches have resulted in a draw.
4th March 2014 - Newport 0-0 Fleetwood - League Two
2nd November 2013 - Fleetwood 4-1 Newport - League Two
17th December 2011 - Newport 0-1 Fleetwood - National League
11th October 2011 - Fleetwood 1-4 Newport - National League
5th March 2011 - Newport 1-3 Fleetwood - National League
Whilst this might appear on the surface as an evenly matched fixture, I certainly cannot see a draw in this match.
Fleetwood are finding it too easy to score at home, which will punish Newport’s shaky home defence.
Odds of 21/20 on QuinnBet mean that a £10 bet has the potential to return up to £20.50 in this match.
(odds subject to change)
Newport County 0-2 Fleetwood Town
Fleetwood will be dominant, and leapfrog their opponents in the league standings.
Elsewhere in League Two, Bromley take on Barrow.
