Division C of the Nations league continues on Sunday, as North Macedonia hosts the Faroe Islands.
With the home side sitting top of the table by five points with this the final game in their group, North Macedonia have already sealed promotion to division B, while the Faroe Islands will confirm their spot in the play-offs with a win for themselves.
As the game approaches, here is everything you need to know about both sides ahead of kick-off.
North Macedonia Predicted Lineup (4-3-3): Stole Dimitrievski (GK); Ezgjan Alioski, Gjoko Zajkov, Nikola Serafimov, Bojan Dimoski; Enis Bardhi, Isnik Alimi, Eljif Elmas; Aleksander Trajkovski, Bojan Miovski, Darko Churlinov.
While the calibre of opposition hasn’t been of the highest quality, North Macedonia have done well to come through the group unscathed. Only dropping points away to the Faroe Islands with a 1-1 draw, they have picked up maximum points in every other game, keeping four clean sheets in the process.
Having sealed their path into the second tier of Europe’s international competition, Macedonia now have nothing to play for, and will be relaxed and positive; a good recipe for a dominant home performance over the Faroe Islanders.
Faroe Islands Predicted Lineup (3-4-3): Teitur Gestsson (GK); Andrias Edmundsson, Gunnar Vatnhamar, Odmar Faero; Joannes Kalso Danielsen, Brandur Hendriksson, Rene Joensen, Viljormur Davidsen; Adrian Jusrinussen, Pall Klettskard, Joannes Bjartalid.
Despite sitting second in their group, the Faroe Islands have been far from convincing. Managing just one draw in their five games so far, they have been fortunate that Armenia and Latvia have experienced similar struggles, and sit below them.
However, their second placed position isn't entirely undeserved, and the Faroe Islands have guaranteed themselves points by having a very well drilled defence. Conceding just five goals in total, they have conceded more than one goal on just one occasion, their 2-2 draw with Armenia.
If they can maintain their stubbornness at the back, there is a chance they can come away from this one with perhaps a point, but being away from home, and looking at the quality difference between the two squads, they will struggle.
The odds are in favour of a North Macedonia victory here, so that is exactly what us at Football Park are backing.
The Macedonians simply have too much squad depth for the Faroe Islands to compete with, and given their record throughout the group stage so far, it is incredibly hard to look past another win for them here.
