Whilst Austria did underform in their recent 1-1 draw with Slovenia, they’re by far the more experienced footballing nation than Norway.
Firstly, Austria are ranked 22nd in the world according to FIFA. Whereas Norway are ranked 50th. Whilst not everyone always agrees with the rankings, there is a reason that these two are 28 places a part.
Norway were also not good enough to qualify for Euro 2024, at which Austria performed very well. Austria topped their group ahead of France, Netherlands and Poland, whilst winning against Netherlands and Poland.
However, Norway do possess a very obvious goal threat. Erling Haaland has won the last two Premier League goals and started the season on fire. Behind him is Martin Ødegaard, who is one of the best attacking midfielders in the word. Both are Ballon d’Or nominees for 2024, and allow Norway to score in games they shouldn’t. Austria are organised, but these two will find a way.
When it comes to head-to-head results, Norway have only won once in their eight all-time meetings. Meanwhile, Austria have won six and drawn once.
We’re backing Austria to win this match, and for both teams to score. Through our bookmakers, you can get odds of 4/1 which would return £50 from a £10 stake.
