The UEFA Nations League continues on Thursday 10th October 2024 with what is sure to be an interesting battle between Norway and Slovenia at the Ullevaal Stadion.
An interesting battle between two teams that are on a fairly similar playing field Norway vs Slovenia is bound to be a good match that could go either way. But who can either of the sides come away with the victory and three crucial points in their UEFA Nations League group?
Norway Predicted Lineup - Orjan Nyland; Julian Ryerson, Kristoffer Ajer, Andreas Hanche-Olsen, David Moller Wolfe; Sander Berge, Partick Berg, Hugo Vetlesen, Antonio Nusa; Erling Haaland, Alexander Sorloth
Norway came into this game off the back of a win and a draw in their last Nations League games placing them second in League B Group Three.
Their ability to score goals is most impressive about them having scored eleven goals in seven games.
A big reason behind that is of course Erling Haaland who comes into this game on great scoring form for Manchester City. He has eleven goals in ten games already this season for his club, something he will look to add to, with his country. If anyone is to score it will be him.
Slovenia Predicted Lineup - Jan Oblak; Petar Stojanovic, Jaka Bijol, Vanja Drkusic, Jure Balkovec; Tomi Horvat, Timi Max Elsnik, Adam Gnezda Cerin, Erik Janza; Andraz Sporar, Benjamin Sesko
Slovenia top the group on goal difference having also picked up four points in their opening Nations League matches. They are off the back of a win and a draw as well.
Their ability to keep teams out is most impressive with an excellent defensive record. However they struggle to score more than one goal in games which could be a bit of a setback for them here.
However if anyone is going to keep out Norway it is Jan Oblak. He has four clean sheets in eight La Liga games this season and will be keen to stop the powerhouse that is Haaland.
These two teams have faced each other eleven times so far before this game.
Norway have the advantage having won six of those games. This to Slovenia’s two wins. There have also been three draws.
In fact Slovenia have never beaten Norway away from home with the two victories coming either at home or in neutral stadiums. Despite this they are unbeaten in the last three matches against them with Norway failing to win since October 2018.
24th September 2022 - Slovenia 2-1 Norway - UEFA Nations League
9th June 2022 - Norway 0-0 Slovenia - UEFA Nations League
16th November 2018 - Slovenia 1-1 Norway - UEFA Nations League
13th October 2018 - Norway 1-0 Slovenia - UEFA Nations League
11th October 2013 - Slovenia 3-0 Norway - FIFA World Cup
This match is bound to be a close contest between two very evenly matched teams.
However, we feel as though home advantage will favour Norway against a Slovenia side who struggle to finish games with a win. They draw a lot of the time. Norway’s strength should be enough.
That is why our team of professional tipping experts are backing odds of 8/13 for Norway To Win in this game. These odds mean that £10 has the potential to return £16.15 making it our best value pick.
(Odds subject to change)
Norway 2-1 Slovenia
Norway should be able to use the strength and power of their squad to take this game to Slovenia. It will be close with the away side's good defensive form however Norway should have enough to get over the line here.
