Roberto de Zerbi’s Marseille team host Christophe Pelissier’s AJ Auxerre.
Both sides will be very happy with their starts to the Ligue 1 season. Marseille sit in 2nd, pushing PSG for top spot, and Auxerre sit 10th in the table.
Olympique de Marseille Predicted Line-up - Geronimo Rulli; Pol Lirola, Leonardo Balerdi, Lillian Brassier, Quentin Merlin; Geoffrey Kondogbia, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg; Mason Greenwood, Amine Harit, Luiz Henrique; Jonathan Rowe
Olympique de Marseille have looked nothing short of fantastic at points this season, they’ve taken to life under former Brighton boss De Zerbi fantastically.
They've won all but four games this season, but looked disappointing in defeats to PSG and Strasbourg.
Their entire front three have been clinical this season, and Mason Greenwood will be looking to return to goalscoring form.
AJ Auxerre Predicted Line-up - Donovan Leon; Gabriel Osho, Clement Akpa, Theo Pellenard; Ki-Jana Hoever, Elisha Owusu, Kevin Danois, Gideon Mensah; Gaetan Perrin, Thelonius Bair, Hamed Junior Traore
Auxerre will be very happy with the way their season has gone so far, sitting in 11th, far clear of any current relegation danger.
They’ve shown they can pull off big results, with a draw against Lyon and a 4-0 win over Rennes.
Bournemouth loanee Hamed Traore has been excellent so far this season, he’s already bagged four and will be looking to add to his tally.
These two sides have met 22 times since 2004. Of their meetings, Marseille have won 12 games, and Auxerre have won five.
Five matches have resulted in a draw.
30th April 2023 - Marseille 2-1 Auxerre - Ligue 1
3rd September 2022 - Auxerre 0-2 Marseille - Ligue 1
10th February 2021 - Auxerre 0-2 Marseille - Coupe de France
13th May 2012 - Marseille 3-0 Auxerre - Ligue 1
14th August 2011 - Auxerre 2-2 Marseille - Ligue 1
Whilst Auxerre have impressed me this season, I don’t think they’ll have a chance against a very strong Marseille team.
The combination of the home teams unbelievable head to head record, along with their strong attack, will see them coast to a comfortable win.
Overall we think the best bet to place for this game would be Marseille to win and over 1.5 goals, backed up by our research.
Odds of 4/7 on Ladbrokes mean that a £10 bet has the potential to return up to £15.70 in this match.
(odds subject to change)
Olympique de Marseille 2-0 AJ Auxerre
Marseille will increase the pressure they’re already applying to PSG for top spot.
In the Scottish Championship, Greenock Morton host Ayr United.
