The UEFA Europa League qualifiers continue this week with Thursday 8th August having an incredibly interesting fixture on the cards as Greek outfit Panathinaikos taking on Ajax of the Netherlands.
In their histories, the two clubs have played each other on five different occasions.
Ajax have the advantage when it comes to head to heads though taking the victory on four different occasions - this to Panathinaikos’ one win.
Their last game came back in 2019 - believe it or not Panathinaikos actually came away with the victory. Something they will look to do again in this game.
Panathinaikos come into this game potentially without Andraz Sporar. Adam Gnezda Čerin looking set to start ahead of him.
New signing, former Sheffield United man, George Baldock could also be set to make his debut on Thursday evening for the hosts.
Ajax will be without goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli who is still away with Argentina at the Olympics. Owen Wijndal and Gaston Avila are also out with injury.
However it isn’t all bad news with potential returns for Brian Brobbey and Steven Bergwijn having returned to training this week.
Panathinaikos FC - Bartłomiej Drągowski, George Baldock, Sverrir Ingi Ingason, Tin Jedvaj, Filip Mladenović, Adam Gnezda Čerin, Willian Arão, Daniel Mancini, Anastasios Bakasetas, Filip Đuričić, Alexander Jeremejeff
Ajax - Remko Pasveer, Devyne Rensch, Josip Šutalo, Jorrel Hato, Kenneth Taylor, Jordan Henderson, Kian Fitz-Jim, Carlos Forbs, Chuba Akpom, Christian Rasmussen
This is sure to be a close fixture with both sides being strong and really wanting to qualify. However our team of professional experts are backing Ajax as being the slightly stronger team in this game.
Having played more fixtures recently with an extensive preseason as well Ajax should just about get over the line in this game.
Our tipping experts are backing a half time/full time of draw/Ajax in this game. And with odds of 13/2, £10 could return a potential £75 making it by far our best value tip for this game.
This game is set to kick off at 19:00 on Thursday 8th August 2024. Unfortunately though this game is unavailable to watch in the UK.
